The plastics look new to me. The guy is dreaming of he thinks somebody is gonna pay that much for it.

That guitar has been on there for ages and there's a reason nobody goes near it...

If you look closely there are so many things wrong and the tortoise as extra selling point is totally stupid because it is't an original one.
You can also see the guitar had 4-screw tuners once in it's life, the body has no nail holes. It has the later pickguard screw pattern drilled in the body.

We can go on... but doesn't even make sense to waste time on it.

oh, and an Olympic White from 1960 doesn't turn yellow like this...

@thrupn'y bit . I'm not but like most on this pre CBS forum I have a genuine interest in them and was asking what people here had thought about the damage around the trem etc and to start a new thread not to have it hi jacked by the vintage haters again. :thumb:.

I don't hate vintage or hijack anything. Just seen it all before, like @Mipstoo says. Welcome to the forums, enjoy your stay.

And this too, except it's my morning being wasted. Time for BACON! :D

I always learn something in these “what’s wrong with this picture” threads (though I will never be in the market for a $45K guitar).

    My contributions:
    - Why would the paint yellow uniformly under the pickguard, but not under the pickups?
    - The “wear” on the top reveals a modern machined edge.
    - The only full frontal nude pic has the pickguard strategically covering the spot where Mexican bodies have an ID hole drilled.

Good points there @sgarnett it doesn't even look like a crl switch , good job its priced so ridiculous then no one gets fooled by it really , be interested to know why the took a chisel to to trem top route though , also no pic of headstock end of the fret board I bet its straight not curved im guessing of course .

I think it should be straight on a 1960 anyway. They switched to the veneer fretboard in mid to late 1962 if I recall correctly.

Ah ok its curved on my dads 59 that was my reference point , Best I've played apart from a 56 sunburst I went to see in London last month was a lovely guitar but refinished and they wouldn't move from the 20 k asking price so had to walk away , I've been trying to find one as Good as my dads 59 for 30 years now lol still half the fun is in the hunting is it not:thumb:
