Home Owners Association. A tiny government for your little neighborhood.

    I think.

    Glad I don't have one - they'd kick me out. rotfl.gif

    Hi, @T Bone Slort -Buddy

Some neighborhoods in U.S. have homeowner's associations to regulate lawns and paint colors of house etc.
The dues covers some lawn maintenance too I think.

Sometimes an HOA Board is nice, sometimes a bit grumpy.

Me too. I just don't bother posting much anymore. Over 25k posts starting in 2017.

Got tired of the antics and hypocritical biased moderation. I also shat in a few too many threads. :whistling:

    Ok now I can relate.
We have been in our Townhouse condo for 13 years and for all but 3 years I’ve been on council, mostly as president. I took a year off last year but had to come back on because all hell broke loose on council. It really is a thankless job.

As am I, though I don't have a Les Paul...
I don't post much. I've visual issues that the black background formatting makes reading difficult.

Not all HOA's are bad. I have a man-cave cabin in a small community with an HOA. This is our beach, about 1/8 mile long.

Properly run HOAs serve a valuable purpose--they ensure homeowners don't lose value on their investment due to the neglect/misbehavior of their neighbors. Badly run HOAs suck up the funds of the homeowners and pester them over trivial nonsense. Here's the caveat: If you agreed to play by the rules when you bought in, you can't complain about the rules afterwards unless you're honestly and honorably working to change them thru the HOA process.

They're completely defensible. I just defended them (above).

If one wants no rules on what they wish to do with a property, buy a property without an HOA.
