I hope you can open this if you've not seen the documentary "Songbirds". It is about the world class guitar collection/museum/music venue that existed in Chattanooga for several years. It recently shut down and the collection disappeared back into private hands. Saw it myself a few years ago and it was mind blowing. The doc is really, really good.

I watched this just last night. Im not a big vintage fan. Prefer the newer stuff to the old
But was very interesting and odd that as much as that collection was worth it was takin out by not having enough money?
How do you amass millions and millions in guitars but cant afford 25g a month to keep it open?

Thank you, Bob.
I'm re-watching it now. Very special collection and takes me back to a simpler time when most of those instruments were coming out, being used in different genres of popular music and becoming objects of desire for many people my age. Sad to see it broken up and no longer available for everyone to see.

Really interesting question. Sometimes even very wealthy people reach a point where they choose to stop the bleeding.

Maybe I missed it, but was the cafe ownership separate from the collection ownership? And was it clear whether this was a single collection or a collection of collections?

That is a good question. I got the impression it was owned by one or 2 guys. Curated by one guy who ran the museum. Perhaps the collection and songbirds itself were different entities. It wasnt really made clear why they had to dismantle just not enough money.

It wasn't clear to me either. Maybe it was an attempt to make the venue "pay its way" and that failed to materialize. Dunno...but I wish it was still there.
