I stayed home today to ensure that my newest arrival found its way safley out of mail room. Sweetwater has special edition US Strats that have roasted maple necks and custom Shop pickups. And they sound oh so sweet. I usually have a heavy pick hand and I like the feeling of some heavy attack, but with this guitar such a style would be like chopping wood with a scalpel. The notes are so damned distinct and clear that you want to make sure they ring out as much as possible.

I know many think that SB with a maple board is like a burger with mayonnaise instead of ketchup, but I enjoy having something at least a little unique, and I think the roasted maple accents the pastel quite well.

Beautiful Strat and I'll take the burger with mayonnaise all day long.

Nice... how does the roasted maple feel compared to maple?

Not too dissimilar at this point, at least on the palm-side of the hand.. I was expecting something more "pebble" smooth, but the satin finish is very glassy, and without the stickiness of the gloss. I'm not yet experienced enough with this guitar to form any basis for comparison regarding the effect of the RM neck on the tone. The frets and the fretboard feel great though, and bends feel tactilely pleasurable when you feel the string slide smoothly against the finish. The fretboard is smooth without having the glossy finish that most modern fender products with maple have on the fretboard side of the neck.

The custom shop 69 PUs are a thing of art. And the locking tuners are also a nice bonus that I didn't realize were equipped before ordering.

    Very Nice!
    I just ordered one - Maple &a Sienna Burst - can't wait.
Did it come with 9's or 10"s? And how does it feel weight-wise, light heavy? Thx
    Congratulations!

Thought my Sonic Grey & Maple was the best colour combo on the Am Pro...

    I don't think that any more ;)

    Stunner.

I believe they come with fender 9s. In terms of weight, it feels dead-nuts on what you would expect for a modern strat- close to 7.5lbs probably.

I came damn close to getting the Sienna myself, and I'm sure it will be a total head-turner. That's another color that I have always wanted.

I assume that the Roasted Maple fretboard is not finished with lacquer?
