Been thinking about re-wiring at least one Strat with a blender pot. Currently have a CV60 with a set of Rose Mariposa pickups. Really like the classic Strat tones from these pups and having the bridge pup wired to the tone pot really opens up the bridge pup (and eliminates a little ice pick). Ordered two Mojotone blender pots (in case I really like it and want to
do same mod to my MIM Strat). After some searches on the blender mod there doesn’t seem to be too many down-sides. Two questions: can anyone recommend a good wiring diagram and has anyone used the blender pot in the second position and the master tone in the third position? Seems that having the blender pot in the second (middle) position would help with on-the-fly blending. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

This is the diagram I used when I did mine:

And also, I ended up having the blender in the middle, and the master tone in the third position. I like it just fine that way. In my case, I opted for the master tone in the third position because that pot is also a push-pull for splitting my bridge, and I didn't want it getting in the way of the vibrato arm (the arm clears it just fine, but I wanted to be sure).

It appears that Mojotone's blender pots are really just "no-load pots", in case you ever have to source one from somewhere else.

Note that this diagram is set up "50's wiring style" with the master tone on the middle lug of the volume instead of the outer lug. It's sort of two mods in one, but I never cared for 50's wiring because of how it makes the tone control work differently when the volume is rolled back, so I wouldn't follow along with that. Also note that this puts a tone control on the bridge pickup, which loads it down relative to a stock Strat.

I know you are going to do it yourself so I have two things to share
Rothstein guitars sells all the pots and switches plus they have wiring diagrams on their site.

    Ten in all
The top mods people are doing.

Antigua thanks for the info. I believe the website and packaging state blender pot. What is the difference between a blender pot and a no-load pot?

This one is pretty complex not the simplest but in addition to a blender
It also has a midrange cut and boost
Which gives you some crazy tone

    .

You can put the pot that blends in any of the locations, provided you have enough wire length to move things around.

I use the Armstrong Blender mod, which blends between classic SSS and HSH with standard as-expected 5-way switch operation so it's easy to remember what is what months later or in the middle of a gig. No new parts required, wiring change only.

That diagram was fine, just move the global tone pot wire to the outer lug of the volume pot, same one that is connected to the pickup selector switch, and that will make it standard.
