It's not the browser that's the problem, it's the forum server.

Pretty sure the site is running off a laptop, using the free wifi at a starbucks now. The daily downtimes are bathroom breaks or ordering another latte something or other.

That's not a trend, there. They also have a lively Strat forum.

The problems are with the server, itself, and (oddly) Domain Name Service. It's not as bad as it has been, but has been increasingly wonky, lately. Early yesterday, DNS didn't resolve strat-talk.com to its numeric address and "strat-talk.com" didn't work.

It's not your computer and not your browser: it's them. You can always check at...

S-T usually seizes up at about 6:0pm BST, or just as I try to post a particularly detailed response to a member's request for information. :sneaky:

If it's more than a sentence or two, I compose posts and replies in a text editor with a scratch file reserved for such things.

That way I just paste my post into the form and hit Post Reply. If strat-talk goes comatose, I haven't lost my reply because it's in the text file.

They have a "save draft" button that will save your reply. You can exit the forum entirely, go to a different website and come back and it'll be there still. Screenshot_20200820-122131_Chrome.jpg

The save draft function on a computer is automatic. Like all the other scripted functions, it usually stops working before the entire forum declines to respond .

What Mr. Bit said. Save Draft and the default automatic save only work if the site still works. I've lost a lot of text when the site went comatose

I haven't seen a slowdown on ST since I let my premium membership expire. :sneaky:

In the last few months, this forum runs fine when it loads, but it doesn't always load. I'll be reading and posting and then all of a sudden it just doesn't load at all. It happens to me about 10 times per week, and I come on a few times per day.

I’ve experienced slow downs on both sites, and others as well. I just figured my IP service was not giving me the bandwidth I had paid for. But maybe it is the web crashing.....

C’mon over! There’s nothing wrong with being bi-forumnal. They’re cool over there. My Tele has two humbuckers, and they still talk to me;)

Oh, aren't they going to include us "Strat Players" in their Reindeer Games ?

I'm transmogrified. (or, at the very least, mogrified...)
