I think when the slow down happens on Strat-Talk it simultaneously happens on Squier-Talk. Maybe people don't notice this unless they are both on the same forums. I have both pages open so when Strat-Talk is slow Squier-Talk is also slow. That's just my observation.

I only come on Strat-Talk early morning here and have had no problems with slowness of service.

Perhaps later on as more members join in the server gets overloaded?

It does, but not so much and not for as long.

It happens at any and all times of the day.

Doesn’t work when their server goes offline. I speak from experience. I do the text file thing as well.

It didn't make any difference what browsers we were using when the forum went completely offline for 20 minutes, which is when I made the post over at TDPRI that inspired this thread.

Domain Name Service. It's what converts the domain strat-talk.com to a numeric address so the server can be found on the Internet.

Sometimes the server slows down or goes comatose. Sometimes, like earlier this week, DNS fails. Maybe the domain record wasn't pointed to a new server after things were moved there. Maybe a record change didn't propagate correctly. In any case, the admins should be concerned if there is *any* DNS problem.

It just took me five long minutes to load a page on this forum...I don't know why it takes so long at times. It hasn't been like this before.

There was no DNS problem. the name was resolving and the server was responding to pings and traces.

Cripes! Is this still ongoing? It's the reason I took a break in the first place. hard to fathom why it's not been fixed by now.
    I'm outta here again! :p

Hiya mate. I'm all good thanks and I hope you are too.
Just popping in for my 6 month update really but disappointed to learn that the site is still misbehaving!
I've not played a guitar for a very long while although I did do some jamming yesterday. Simon will let me know if there are any ST jams happening once all this doom and despondency is over. I'm probably going off-grid for a while, maybe Scotland or maybe even Eastern Europe. It's on my bucket list to disappear from the constant bombardment of radio waves, advertising and, mainly, people for a while and I'm not getting any younger....
I'm glad you're still alive and kicking and grumping! :D

Well it is as good a time as ever to go off-grid. So much is restricted now, it is not the big stretch it once was. Best of luck and good travels.
