    Hey stratmasters - one question:

    Which Fender model/series strats have a 22 fret neck without an overhang for the 22nd fret?

    I am looking for parts to assemble a partscaster and want to avoid stupid surprises.

    Many thanks for any wisdom you can spare!

    Some Squiers maybe, can't think of a Fender that did though.

    post deleted - my info was incorrect. I thought the china made Modern Player 22 fret Strat had no overhang but it does - it's the Modern Player Tele that has 22 frets and no overhang, but that's a square heel it won't fit the Starcaster body....

    Many thanks +++ !

    I think this is an important compatibility issue for after market 3rd part necks as the neck pocket will be cut shifted towards the bridge.

    I have a Modern Player Thinline Tele and fortunately, I really like the neck on it. Otherwise, the strange choice of using a nonstandard neck would be really frustrating

    The stock fender pocket and scale wont fit a 22f neck without the overhang situation.......the intonation becomes another issue if you try fitting something modified to circumvent the overhang. You would probably find bridges dont have enough saddle travel to accommodate the change.

    I suppose you could change the neck but if you change the body to standard then you would have to reroute the neck pocket.

    The problem is if you are buying a second hand body, it's not evident from photos if the pocket is routed for 22 or 21 frets.

    I assume thst the 21 fret pocket and the 21+1 fret overhang pocket are identical.
