String height on new Martin

looks like about 3mm to me....i don't think your '0' is at the top of the fret....looks beside the fret....
What's the truss rod relief like? Do you know how to check and measure?
Relief is fine...tiny bit of play. Is 3mm normal at the 12th on an acoustic?.

I'd say slightly high normal range....2 to 2.5 might be better...the saddle might need sanding / shaving......or you can tighten the rod a little bit to get no play...just before you get to backbow country.....and see where you end up and see how the notes in the middle of the fretboard ring out....before doing something irreversible or paying someone else to do it....

I actually had to take my takamine to someone and get them to shim the bridge to raise the action a bit. it was too low for me.
I imagine they can sand some off the bottom of the bridge for you.

hey now.....we dont adjust action with the truss rod.
It's not too bad though...i don't like my action too low. I'd have to take it in somewhere ( I'll play it for a few weeks to see how I get on first). My old Cort acoustic seemed to have slightly lower action. The truss rod on this Martin is too deep for any of my wrenches to reach.

Not on electrics....I do on acoustics...as long as it still plays right with no buzz and doesn't go so far it's backbowed / convex.....

+1. The action on my OM-21 was fairly high when I bought it. And all the other Martins I tried were set up similarly. Had a local tech set it up, including sanding the saddle down a bit. Now the action is nice and low.

I looked at the Martin specs a while back, and they were extremely low action, quite a bit lower than mine.
But I'm with HelterShelton, extremely low action is extremely over-rated.

I like around 2 mm at the 12th fret. Make sure there is proper relief, check the nut slots and then sand the saddle. My advise would be don't go overboard sanding the first time. I prefer to do it over several sessions. Put on a capo at the 2nd fret, wind the tension down on all the strings. Pull out the bridge pins and you can remove the saddle without taking the strings off. Also when sanding the saddle it's important the it's done so the that the bottom of the saddle lays flat in the slot. Place the saddle up against something you can use as a guide when sanding.
