    Hi.
I got my kid a Fender Mini Squire. It arrived with loosey goosey floopy strings. Fret buzz is too much. I'm assuming it was strung with regular scale length strings.

The scale length is 22 3/4 inches.
I've searched online and found nothing on the topic.

Any Ideas for where i can get strings online? Best brands?

    Thanks

Shorter the scale, the heavier the gauge. And I'd use a wound G.

I assembled a Telecaster with a Musicmaster 22.5" scale neck, and also have an Affinity Duosonic with a 22.7" scale neck. Both are strung with Gibson Brite Wires .010-.046 strings. I find them quite comfortable to play and not nearly as loose/floppy feeling as a Strat with .090's.

I'm running standard tuning with DR Pure Blues 11's. I've heard that the mini works well with 9's tuned up to "G"

I did have some buzz, even tuned higher. It seemed to be due to the lack of break angle over the saddles, so I shimmed the neck so I could raise the saddles and that fixed it up.

I put 9s on my granddaughter's mini, standard tuning, because it's for her to play, not me. My grandson's half size Strat copy has 9s too, tuned up to A. They're both set up properly and don't buzz or rattle.

I have 10's on my daughter's. It had some buzz on the low E after setup. Raised the saddle just a hair and fixed it. BTW, you use regular length strings, nothing special.

Sounds like it just needs a proper setup .

The one I played was great with 9s ;)

Yep, just needs a setup. My son's Mini was unplayable out of the box but is pretty sweet now, with plain ol' Ernie Ball 9s.

I put 10s on my grandson's, and adjusted the intonation. Made it a lot better.

A few years earlier I did a shell pink paisley on one for my granddaughter. It was destined to be a wall-hanger anyway, so I restrung it with 9s. :sneaky:

Ditto... like 11s at least, or even 12s.
Even in my rock and roll days, i never used anything lighter than a 10 - 46 set.
Nowadays, i do have a couple of guitars with a 9 high E string...
but they are extended range instruments with longer than normal scale lengths too,
    so i go from 9 - 65 or 80, on a fanned fret 27.5" to 28" scale neck.
On my Strats, 11-47 or 50, on the Les Pauls, 12 - 50 or 52.
i like big strings and i cannot lie...
then again, i did start out playing bass, so i'm used to them.
    :D

I tried 10's, but the little thing really benefited from the 11's. Tone, volume, thrashable-tension with no rattle. They feel like 10's do on the bigger ones, and I use 9's on reg. Strats.
My mini just isn't itself without 11's.
