I used to know someone who liked Stuart Hamm, and he had his album "The Urge". This past year, I was thinking about that album and a couple tracks in particular I remember from it (probably because he used to play these two often):

And tonight, I was listening to this song from that album, which I was enjoying, and I don't remember if I ever listened to this one back when my friend had the album:

Other than that album, I don't really know anything else Stuart Hamm has done, though it seems he's a popular bass player who has even had his own signature model bass guitar (the Fender Urge Bass, and later, Urge Bass II):

He’s on loads of albums in the virtuoso/instrumental guitar genre, and many fusion records from the 80s and 90s too.

Did two albums in a collaboration with Frank Gambale and Steve Smith, only know “The Light Beyond” but it is great.

I first came across him on Joe Satriani’s Live in San Francisco video, amazing player.

I first discovered SH in high school somewhere around 88/89’-ish when Steve Vai’s Passion and Warfare came out and he did the bass, and played this super cool slap part on one of the B sides... I was like whoa.... then there was a catalog or a magazine, but I think it was maybe a Fender cat that had a small interview where he talked about Jaco (the day I also discovered Jaco) and removing frets from his bass. That article started me down the mod road that I’m still on today... 30y later.

Great bass player. I saw him play live with Joe Satriani in a club in Germany in ~1989 on his Flying in a Blue Dream Tour. Just looked on my phone and I have 3 of his releases - The Urge, Radio Free Albemuth, and King of Sleep. Can't say I have listened to them in 10 years or more though.

Thanks for sharing. I'm discovering this talent.
    I love "As children".
The other two are good too but I just can't stand hearing the infamous DX7 sound of that era anymore.Eeerrrk!!
Same when trying to listening back to Miles Davis's 'Tutu' or 'Amandla' albums.
Both great work mainly from my all time Bass guitar hero Marcus Miller. But that Damn DX7!!...

The tune Lone Star features Eric Johnson on guitar if I remember correctly.

Stu is an amazing bass player. I listened to him a LOT back in the day.
