On Personal Jesus I hear a lot of reverb. Not amp tank reverb but something else. You could probably use any reverb though. The thing to keep in mind (in my opinion) is that audiences fill in the stuff you can't do live a lot. If they hear a song they love, they aren't gonna care if you use the wrong reverb on a swoosh.

I know you like it. We're both big fans.
I was puzzled because I thought you'd said you liked the sound of the EVH. My bad...

I’ve liked that pedal show pretty much from the beginning. But this episode was one that really made me say yes, 45 minutes to an hour or more isn’t at all too long for a YouTube guitar video.

Lastly, I dont hear flanger on I Kissed a Girl.

If you want a flanger, get a flanger. Im just not hearing one on the songs you mentioned.

They were used by a few already mentioned artists. Andy Summers comes to mind. Even on his stuff you could get away with not using one. Delay and chorus would get you close.

But hey, Im not here to rain on your flanger parade!:p

If you're not having to haul the DRRI to every practice then that pedalboard makes the most sense and I'd have to agree that adding a multi fx of some flavor would give you everything you need without increasing the bulk and much more cost effectively that pickup up pedals as you go....

In the 80s I used an ElectroHarmonix flanger along with my Aria PE-1000. I maintain Andy Summers copied me :whistling::whistling:

Totally unreliable, used batteries like nobodies business, but flanged great!

I now realise I didn't take as many notes as I thought and none on tone. Will do that next practice.

I needed to hear this as "too much" was my experience with the mxr phase 100. Yes, not a flanger but too much in being too complicated - the mxr phase 90 was much better in ease of use and getting right to the sound I was after. I was imagining the same trouble with various flangers. I like other EH products I have and will give the Electric Mistress a trial.

What 80's music? I like MXR but I am not choosing that to do Police tunes. That's an EH flanger and they are a bit different sounding

No lol, but there are about 10 Different Flangers in the HX Effects and she was not quite sure which effect she would require so i tossed this in :)

Its strat talk, where a discussion of which squier to buy inevitably leads to a prs wood library model.
