I have never used the ignore function on any messaging board, ever. Sure, I’ve chosen to ignore people at times, like, not reply to them, but I couldn’t pass the lolz of still seeing the posts of those I’ve chosen to ignore.

I’m a member at both. You aren’t missing all that much. The classifieds section of both are pretty lacking nowadays. The best stuff there is the side chatter, like here.

I’ve never had drama at either site. No use in internet arguments with strangers who wouldn’t know me if I were sitting across from them, anyway.

I've never put a person on ignore, but the spammers selling the degrees from prestigious universities I did. Turned out my MD from Josh Hopkins University was completely bogus. Another $50 bucks on higher education wasted.

We likely have different criteria per site. "Over there" I've been there enough to identify the cranks I just pay no attention to. The ignore number is going up there, though. Thank goodness I'm perfect. :D

LOL He got mad at me once because I invited him to some guitar group on Facebook.

Once 0le Fuzzy left I knew the place was dead. I wish somebody took it over besides Paul when Noam left. Paul runs it like a business. Noam ran it like a family.

Dale ran off Paisley and Brent Mason. The site improved once he left.

I have a "friend" on multiple forums who was banned from TDPRI because he jokingly altered the text in a post quote. My last post was actually about it and I'm amazed I didn't get banned.

Well, thankfully the Gear Talk sites are owned by someone else now. But the spectre of PG looms large at TDPRI.

And I agree with the rule regarding altering quotes. It's a douchebag move...even in jest.

    I prefer it here. :)

That he does. I didn't realize he retired until this thread made me go look. LOL

I've never been bothered too much by it, honestly. It's never been a rule at any of the forums I've moderated for, be it an old gaming forum I worked for, Seymour Duncan, or Mark Wein's place.

Taking a quote...then adding something I didn't write or wouldn't write to make it look like I wrote it...is a douchebag move. It's a great rule.

As with any rule it depends on the context. I tend not to rule with an iron fist, but if somebody changes a quote in a substantive way rather than an ironic or humorous way, I will drop the hammer. Again, though, I'm usually just the enforcer of the rules that somebody else wrote.

I agree that context is important. Happens a lot when someone writes something and the next person quotes them but adds a word and say "There I fixed it for you" that's just humor, no harm done. I've seen it multiple times.

Another is, if someone writes a long post and you just want to refer to a sentence in that text, so you either highlight that part of the text or remove everything except that part so that it's more clear what you're referring.

Any other way it would be douchy.

Thankfully you don't moderate here. :)

Don't change what I write. Period. It's not funny...or ironic. It's being a douchebag. An infantile douchebag. Leave that crap to Beavis & Butthead.
