I searched and saved for over a year before finding this Waterloo WL-K.
It weighs less than three pounds and is quite loud, vibrates against the ribs.

Not a real parlor. These are based on the Gibson/Kalamazoo L-OO body size.

We rebuild them ALL the time. A true parlor guitar is 12” or less across the lower bout, so a lot of smaller and 3/4 size guitars get conflated as parlor guitars when they technically are not parlor guitars. Check out www.staygoldguitars.com to see a big selection of vintage small bodied guitars.
I just measured my Bedell, it's at 10 1/2", I guess I am in the parlor club.

looks like a lot of guitar companies and acoustic guitar mag writers, as usual, just say anything they want... i cant find any corroboration on the 12" lower bout rule, only "rule" i've been able to find other than Scott's rule, and one that is frequently broken, it seems, is smaller than a Martin "0" size, which is 13 9/16"...
those vintage guitars at Stay Gold are um, a little rich for my blood...

so it looks my search for a parlor will mean something that isnt a parlor, not really, not truly... true parlors, just like the articles say, are for the wealthy.

Here is one of the rose wood Larrivee Parlor guitars I was referring to earlier. They can be quite expensive for a well made guitar.

yeah, i found those - apparently among today's ahistorical acoustic guitar crowd, there's no agreement on parameters...

So my PRS P-20E is advertised and sold by PRS as a genuine parlor guitar. Are they correct or are they stretching the truth a little?

Neither. There is no internationals standards body that specifies the requirements for a guitar's size or classification. It's all "common usage." So if PRS wants to brand their P-20E as a "parlor" guitar, there's nothing stopping them. Such a categorization is likely to cause the guitar to compared to others of roughly the same size. It's why I earlier didn't include the Taylor GS Mini or the Martin 000jr-10E, even though some people refer to them as parlor size.
