I dunno...Think I'll take my other one (the one that fits quite well in the Hercules hanger, thank you) with to compare. If anything is way off I'll offer him less and if he doesn't take it he can find another buyer.

I check back in the a.m. to see if anyone else has weighed in before I head out.

I dunno. I have a 2010 Baja on the stand right next to me and logo and tree are in the exact same locations. And I've had this one apart. I know it's the real deal. Might be a bad design but it's not fake. And I'm not paying top dollar for it or I wouldn't even be considering it.

The logo on my 52 RI tele I bought from Wildwood looks the same as does the headstock. Wildwood is well known for being reputable so I know mines not a fakeeroo.

That’s as good far as my thoughts go on this thread. I have other thoughts but they’re kinda naughty and being saved for the right thread.

My eye was drawn to this part of the neck immediately, never seen that deep a curve on any tele before. That would bother me a lot.

My 52 RI looks just like that.

This is the second time you guys made me get out of my recliner to look at my tele. This must stop.

Hmm..that another thing to look at in the a.m. Thanks for pointing it out.

I'll put it up on a monitor and make it life size then hold my other Baja up against it to see. It doesn't look off but the eyes play tricks when I'm this tired.

Okay..well I'll take another look in the morning, both at the pics, my other tele and any feedback.

    Thanks everyone for your input.

There was a 70 pound Golden Retriever occupying that spot at the time. He had to move and is not happy about that right now. Nothing a steak can’t cure though.

And btw...I was just funnin' ya about TDPRI. And FWIW I think that string tree is badly designed. I know it barely holds the string on my other Baja. It's better on my American Tele but that's the roller tree. I was thinking of replacing it on my current Baja and if it's a marked improvement, I'd do it on this one too if I buy it.

You're right about the placement closer to the A. That's where it is on my American. Maybe it's an MIM/Player thing?

    Thanks.

Dont know about all the little bits but back off the neck screws a tiny bit (1/4 turn or so) and push the neck over until the markers are center between the D and G strings. Tighten.

Oh I could definitely be wrong, I've even heard its happened before. But this is what I think of as far as that curve goes anyway. That it ends straight into the nut along the fretboard line and not coming in from under the high E. But like I say, I could def be wrong.

I have a round tree on me StratoMutt. Works quite well. I just put it there as it looked "right"

The strings are nice and straight.

I'd never have thought that was a genuine logo and tree placement.

OK, then. Often wrong I am.

    Strings line up better though...

Poorly cut nut slot for the low E.

All the more justification for my worthless opinion that the Strat was the culmination of a few years of Fender build experience and added corrections where needed. The Tele was a prototype of sorts.

I think what if find so disconcerting about the headstock is that the high E looksl ike it's hanging out over that curve. But every one I looked at is like that. Mutt's right. The could do better design work on that headstock. But damn! They play nice!!
