Nada.....which is actually typical of all of my Holidays. Just another day in the life. I was gonna hunt wild turkeys but it seems they've formed a militia and are now shooting back.....so that ended that idea.
@Stormy Monday When I was a kid I’d turn the handle on the little meat grinder for my Mom when she ground the livers to make her Dirty Rice...
Going to be a true 2020 style blowout here.. so not going anywhere or doing anything. This year I think the family is actually relieved to not be getting together. The loss of the matriarch shook the families roots pretty good. In conversations pretty much everyone is just looking to get past the year and hopefully work out some new ideas beginning next year.
In my work I am in constant contact with cops, addicts, homeless people, and prisoners. And other lawyers who are in similar practice--about half of whom have tested positive already. IDK if I've already had the Rona or not, but I was in the room with two people who were coughing just yesterday. If I have people over for Thanksgiving it could be the last time, and I'm not willing to take that risk. This will be the first time in 20 years we haven't had the nieces and nephew over and I'll miss them. My stepdaughter (who got married this year) won't be over either, this is the first time having thanksgiving without her. A few of them were a little butthurt we didn't invite them, but they'll get over it. I'd rather miss them for a little while than miss them forever. We're cooking a big spread anyway. Turkey, stuffing, sweet potatoes, green beans, corn, cranberries, and a couple of pies. It's the same menu as we usually do, we'll just have more leftovers this time. Actually, we're cooking the pies this afternoon.
Plans here at Initech are just to relax, work on a couple projects, and maybe have a Friendsgiving with a couple of the crew.
Ill be waking up ar 2 or 3am to smoke a huge turkey for my girlfriends parents. Itll be a loong day. But the food should be good
I'll be waking up at 9 or 10 am, and smoke a huge bowl. It'll be a loong day. But the bud should be good.
We don’t have Thanksgiving over here. Somehow we do get Black Friday sales, but since everybody has to work, it’s not particularly busy in the shops in normal years.
Hahaha, if only. That really did make me laugh, its been a while since thats happened with something Ive read on any forum
In our family, this took well over 20 years. There was no big event that brought everybody together, just a few random chance encounters, careful contacts being established, and of course the universal unspoken agreement to pretend nothing happened like only the best families can...
