I have my own that aren't exactly breakup songs but became that once.

Otherwise, I think this is an obvious one.

One of the saddest for sure.... Billy puts everything he has into it.
No lie I cried listening to it
Billy is cool, we met him filming the doors movie and he was a real nice guy

I had just been dumped by my high school sweetheart when that song started playing on Family Ties. It’s a moment in time that I will never forget.

Sorry LP and everyone who likes this but this isn't what I'd call a great "breakup song" What I would call it the ultimate "stalker song" had I broken up with someone and she sent me this song I would be getting a restraining order on her and I can imagine it would be worse for a woman who had a guy sending her something like this

Okay, but I believe Lennon was more honest about it in "his own write" as it were.:whistling:

Oh yeah....it worked out pretty well in the end. My GF broke up with me so she could go out with another guy. They dated for a few months, but he dogged her out the whole time they were together. She ended up breaking up with him. A few months after that we got back together. We were married in 1979 and we're still together today. Footnote: A few months after she and I got back together we ran across the other guy. He got pretty mouthy and I got the pleasure of laying him out cold in a Pizza Hut parking lot.

Lennon did not write those lyrics. He stole them from Arthur Gunter

    Now listen to me, baby
    Try to understand.
I'd rather see you dead, little girl,
Than to be with another man.
