    Fun fact:

If you look at this 1962 Jazzmaster, you can see that where the case is used the most, the color has faded and worn out and actually turning into orange instead of the opposite(red).

I wish you could buy the fabric that covered those...

I think it's just the light in that example making some areas appear darker than others.

Could be, but I think it is not the light.
Look at these photos from mint condition Fenders.
All those case are hardly worn and when they are worn off-colored, it is certainly the 'orange' part.

Here's a couple of interesting shots to show how light can work. I got together with a buddy - our strats are a month apart - his has a blonde case, mine has a black case. Here they are side by side from two different angles. In one shot my case interior looks darker, in the other his does.

But you're right, absolutely some fading goes on over time!

That was my friend's one. He got it like that. Great story - it was advertised as a 1976 Strat and he got it for $US2000. He traded it to another friend who refinished the body Fiesta Red and sold for $10,000 a few years later.

No idea what the original colour was. There was all sorts under the pickguard - yellow, red!!!

Those 1959/1960/1961 are indeed 'orange' (gold lined).
But this one in a 1962.
    Actually
    Yes, light affects a lot.
    Thankyou for the photos.
And nice to see you are still active here. Haven't been here for a long time..
