The countdown has started

Been there... no sweat. All the pain associated with root canal is the tooth decaying the nerve BEFORE hand. The procedure itself is not painful. Only the 1st tiny needle hurts. Relax. I feel asleep in during mine.

 

Had one a month ago, no biggy, much better than an extraction

This part always cracks me up at the dentist, the you may feel a slight pinching during the injections.. lol

 

Had a few, worst part is the waiting. No worse than having a cavity done.

 

My wife works at a dental surgery, root canal is pretty straightforward to them what do it all the time...me not so much, but I feel confident you will be fine.

 

Like you @Stratoman10, I had one that was unexpected. It was no big deal, other than the pain in the wallet.

 

Thank god for anesthetic. Oh, eat a special brownie before going in.

 

I had my first ever root canal recently - also unexpected - and it was a breeze. I woke up on a Monday with a toothache, called the dentist, they got me in first thing, and the Novocaine wore off enough for me to eat without embarrassing myself by lunchtime.

I had all four out at once. Next day I was eating tacos.

Unsolicited advice: try to avoid having family members around when you are coming out of anesthetic. Man, you will say anything!

 

Speaking from personal experience it sounds like it's not too bad if she's ok with waiting a week. Waiting sucks though, try not to think about it and don't watch any Marathon Man "is it safe" clips.
