I have always put new strings on before a gig on any guitar i was using.
I have always fully stretched them out as well.....it takes a little while to get them stretched completely, but its worth it.
The other night my tele was so stable that i didnt have to tune it even once during our thing.
I picked it up yesterday and it was still in perfect tune.
Stretch your strings people until they dont go out of tune.

Beware...this is not the real @heltershelton. The sentences in his posts here start with capital letters.

Imposter? Or did I miss something.

I put the cleaning rag on the tip of my right index finger and hold down the strings with my left hand, slide the right finger up and down.
    Works great.
    edited for coherence.

I never stretch strings, because I believe that they last longer if you don't.

I just put them on, tune up, and play for an hour or so, using plenty of vibrato, bends and whammy, and retuning whenever they go out. After that, they're fine

I stretch the **** outta my strings and, like Kelly, my guitars stay in tune for days.
