By GH3, they'd added a bass guitar mechanic

LOL I guess it does, if you look at pictures kids draw of electric guitars most I see resemble a Strat but I have seen several that resemble a LP too.

I think you’re giving the general public too much credit here.

Guitarist notice things about guitars and the general public is mostly oblivious.

    But that's the point.
If asked to doodle an electric guitar, what would the average non-guitarist draw?
Single cutaway? Double cutaway? Six-on-a-side tuners? How many knobs or pickups? Red, black, sunburst, etc.?

My earliest doodles, before I became a player, were of SG shaped guitars with two pointy horns.

I think most would be shaped like an acoustic, with a random number of strings. The drawing may include tuners. Color would be what ever marker was in the color box.

My brother, who I would consider much more intelligent than myself, sent me a photo a few days ago of a red Gretch and said, "hey, here's one just like Clapton's." It was similar in shape, but nothing like his red ES-335.

Us guitar players know every little detail. We also fret (no pun intended) on every little detail and tone, when the general public can't even see or hear the difference.
