Plus, each one of them can legitimately lay claim to the Greatest of All Time as individual players. How many bands can say that? The Who, maybe.

I just starting listening to PG again after a long time. I don't think I listened to the entire thing since my teenage days.

I remember when this album came out, most people I knew were unimpressed, and thought it was a letdown after IV and Houses of the Holy. For whatever reason I never got around to buying it until years later, now it's one of the LZ albums I'm most likely to play (along with I and III). I appreciate the quirkyness, the throwaway tunes and the leftovers rejected from previous albums, it has stood the test of time a lot better than some of the more "serious" material from that era.

Hold on a second. All this talk about Physical Graffiti takes place just as I happen to be sitting down to learn Stevie Wonder's Superstition. And Whattheheck? The riff at the beginning of Trampled Underfoot seems to be the exact same riff as Superstition! I had never noticed that before. Coincidence? Is this common knowledge, and I'm the only one who never noticed?

I'm not hearing it, but now I want to grab that first few seconds of drums from Superstition and loop it, great beat.

Fond memories of sitting on my neighbors couch, putting on side 3, kicking back and listening thru the haze.

I never knew which songs were outtakes or which albums they were outtakes from. This wikipedia article outlines it well. I found it interesting that, according to this page anyway, that it's viewed was one of their strongest albums and went 7x platinum. Pretty good for a double album!!
