@Mansonienne posted that awesome version of musicians all around the world playing
'The Weight' together, and it got me thinking about trying something on a much smaller scale.

With so many folks sheltering in place, i'd like to open up this thread as a thing
where anyone that needs a part for a song they are working on or would like to
reach out to the general community with a request to collaborate on a single track
(or even a larger project) can post, respond, and even link to their finished collabs here.
    A kind of networking thing...
of course, you can always reach out to a specific person via DM and work on your projects
in private... and then post them here when you are done!
Sharing is caring, after all. :)

Need a bass part, some drums programmed, a brain searing lead, or some sweet chords
    to complete something?
Or maybe you'd like to pick someone whose playing you enjoy, and start a track from scratch?
Don't be shy, let's try to help one another out!

In this time of enforced isolation, maybe we can bridge the gaps of physical distance
that separate us, and come together.

i mean, as great as they were individually, it was the whole that was greater than the sum of its parts...
so even if it's only as small groups of 2 or 3 individuals here, it's a start.

i've already got a few things in the works myself, which i will post here in due course.

    Y'all in?

    Just to get things rolling...

here's a collab between myself and @alainvey (he plays the solo starting at 2:44) from a few years back:

He's a person whose playing i always enjoyed when i heard him on various Challenge and Jam tracks,
and i eventually reached out to him via DM to propose that we work on something together.
Little did i know that he'd been thinking of asking me the same thing!

Well, not only did we collaborate on that track, but also on a host of others, inventing a style i dubbed
    'hipster lounge' in the process.
This one started with his basic track of drums and guitars:

i added the synth pads and also got to use my baritone guitar, which had been sitting dormant, for the bass parts.

That one DM and single track collab blossomed into a working partnership which has resulted in four full length albums:
    https://pezhed1.bandcamp.com/album/the-new-thing
    https://pezhed1.bandcamp.com/album/personal-madness
    https://pezhed1.bandcamp.com/album/dirty-laundry
    https://pezhed1.bandcamp.com/album/live-from-the-hipster-lounge
He even helped convince me to try playing fretless bass, which i'd always been interested in but had been
    too scared to do.
Nowadays i play fretless bass just as much as fretted... so that was a positive side effect of the process!
And we still have one more album all prepped and ready for release soon!
Here's a track from The New Thing, our first album together:

i've also released a full length album in collaboration with @montemerrick:
    https://pezhed1.bandcamp.com/album/tone-poems
Here's a track from that album:

and we have at least one more of those prepped.

Both of those partnerships grew out of me simply being brave enough to ask people via DM if they'd be at all
interested in doing something together (music related, of course... i'm already in a romantic relationship, LOL).
Now, i'm not saying you'll all be as lucky as i've been to find simpatico folks to work with...
my point is simply that you'll never know unless you TRY!

Great idea. I'm right now working on something and thought about posting the basic parts as a jam track. Maybe I should post it for collaboration instead...

Tagging @Omar... i'd love for you to play some stuff on this one:

Bass, a little bit of rhythm guitar, and a rudimentary high hat beat...
it needs some more rhythm guitar, and melody/solo on top.
i'll flesh out the drum part more later, maybe.
Feeling that reggae groove, because i'm missing the warmer temps right now.
Maybe we can conjure some up between us!

    Nice! Thank you so much!

I’ll study the bassline first; ears test time :D and then watch some videos on reggae rhythm ;)

    Edit: Bassline -> E G D C D G, many unknown notes lol, E G D D

Nice work! I'll do a bit with it and post on Dropbox. Would you be OK working with WAVs rather than Flac files? It seems more the 'lingua franca'. I can work with Flacs, but I have too convert them before I can get them into Logic Pro.

Here's Nick's excellent parts fleshed out to a more complete arrangement. I can claim very little credit for the 'placeholder' parts, but it's here for you to download if you'd like to play along. @Nick Evans if you think this is a good starting point, I'll export the individual audio files and upload for further work.
