Yep, there are definitely some people who are just born evil.
One of the most accurate posts I've read. Ever.
Is that from Working Girl? Or is Jerry McGuire, or no wait 28 Days? Oh I give up.....
What movie is it from again?
The world is a beautiful place, and people are amazing.
I heard John Lennon say it and it has stuck with me for some reason.
@stevierayfan91 it's a terrible thing that happened to the dog and I'm sure she's in good hands now. I have to wonder though, how is it known the dog was thrown from a moving vehicle? Is it possible the owner was merely negligent and let the dog hang out an open window (as many do) and it fell out?
It seems like a physically difficult thing to do - steer a vehicle and at the same time maneuver an animal to the window. It also seems a person intentionally performing such an act would look for a place less public to do the deed.
I am asking only in the context of this particular thread concerning people and their goodness or badness.
Lately I've been reading a lot of ancient history - Rome, Greece, etc.
Frankly things are the same as always. Lots of good people and a smaller but sadly influential group of bad ones; and the same with leaders putting personal power and fortune ahead of the good of the group.
The big difference is now, with technology, McLuhan's "global village" has become a reality, and everything is "harder, faster, and deeper" than before, but essential human nature has not changed much in several thousand years.
When I think of the loss to society through the various pogroms throughout the ages, it makes me very sad.
You ain't what your not,
So see what you've got!
Not only the human losses, which are unconscionable, but the loss of ancient libraries and other knowledge is also sad.
Stop watching the news and get back to us...
It’s confirmation bias run amok. That’s the biggest problem the internet created. If you’re some kook with kooky ideas, you might have been somewhat isolated in the past, now you just go online and locate the rest of the kooks and try to create more kooks by spreading misinformation.
Indeed... the phrase "The whole is greater than the sum of its parts" never took a more nefarious turn.
I'm re-reading a book I revisit every few years. Plato's Republic. In a time when most people don't even understand the fundamental basis for governance it provide some perspective on how far off course things have gone The Dark Ages were not an artificial contrivance, and if the electricity ever goes out, they will return with a vengence.
..and I see campaign promises.
Nope, it's full of whatever you think it's full of.
One could just as easily say "The World is a beautiful place, full of wonderful people" and be just as correct as you think you are.
I think social media just gives the minority a louder voice and these people draw the most attention. For example the media will focus on one small hate group and make them sound way bigger than they actually are, they won’t do a story on nice normal people lol people do like focusing on the negative and that is evident by this thread. What a miserable way to live.
When I saw cow pie I thought "Oh boy mushrooms"
When I look at the body count due to Covid.. I agree with guitarface.
I mean what the hell are people doing? French kissing bats?!?
