Thinking about buying this Tele

Enjoy your new tele Tyler. I'm often amazed at how such a simple guitar can be so versatile. The tele bridge pickup with overdrive is a sound no other guitar has been able to replicate (that I've heard) and the neck pickup can be absolutely beautiful sounding.

I have been wanting a Telecaster for quite some time. Was looking at this used Player series one at guitar center. They are asking $485. for it and I wanted to get some opinions on it as I know nothing about Tele's. I own 3 Strat's but never owned a Telecaster. I believe its a 2020 model and has Alnico 5 single coil pickups. Is the asking price fair and as far as Tele sound will I be happy with this guitar? View attachment 573685

I usually frequent the GC in Daytona Beach, I'm at FL-100 pretty much in Flagler Palm Coast. Total Entertainment is the local go to music store for me there. Last Saturday, I ended up buying a Jackson Bass for $ 100, seller was in downtown St Augustine about 30 miles away. Glad I have a car that gets 40 mpg.

Jacksonville had a lot of good Music stores, just not familiar enough with all the townships that comprise Jax. Years ago, I purged a lot of Jax out of my head after 4 years of living there. When I lived there, I knew the area well, then I moved to Miami. I've even started that Miami-Dade memory dump, I've been rural FL since 2016. Don't miss gridlock traffic one bit.

Yeah Jacksonville is crazy. There are certain times during the day you don't get on the streets. St Augustine used to be nice but in the past 10 years developers have built so many houses its way over crowded now. Traffic is terrible here now.

You clearly took a jab at the fender. You said that money for something no better than a CV just because it says fender on it. When I think of tele, that is what comes to mind. It is a simple guitar that can do quite a bit. A workhorse of the trade. Good price too. Looking towards your NGD thread.

Yeah, I remember when they built that. Its off CR318. You would be in the country and all of a sudden there is this huge arena. I lived a lot of my teenage years with my grandma. She lived in a small town just north of Ocala called Reddick.

Last couple of years the growth in Flagler county & St Augustine's sprawl is leaking South & North from Jacksonville. Seedy Daytona Beach is also leaking North towards Palm Coast. I may have to go elsewhere yet again, they just keep growingto where the dart hits the map for my relocations. I haven't been to Ocala in a couple of decades, but at one point back then it was a place I wanted little to do with. Sad part is the crime & problems of the human race blossom like weeds rather than a controlled equivalent & better quality of life for the area. The struggle to maintain that quality of life is real.

Bunnell is just a rural drug dealing location, gangs taking advantage of the lack of law enforcement. Revently Bunnell PD, they hired more officers, had a couple of gang related shootings and the caseload was turned over to the Flagler county Sheriff's Office. Naturally, they need more manpower to cover that area. It was comical almost, they hired a new Police Chief from South FL township in Broward county, within weeks of the new hire, that one resigned and moved on & that was about the time the drive by shootings were ramping up. It's just a mess with the illegal drugs & guns. The gangs are like the drug cartels there. Those rural towns are nothing more than speed traps with the law enforcement resources. To some extent at least they get a few of the drug dealers that way, because the one's speeding are the felons that have illegal drugs & firearms in the car when they get pulled over. Routine traffic stops, K9 units, the dogs reaction is the tool that enables & empowers vehicle searches. Highlight of my day when the local reports are another thug apprehended. Just hate it when the state plea deals with them. Scary is they are more & more caught as minors, trying to use their protections as a child/minor to get away with their crimes.

If I get time tomorrow I might take a ride down to Ocala to pick it up. Its only a 2 hour ride there.

No "if..." Make the time, then take the time and go get it. Much safer than shipping nowadays. Enjoy the ride!

Well I got a case for the Tele when it gets here. Found this one on marketplace. The guy was asking $100. for it and I offered him $80 and he accepted my offer.

It’s a tele. It’s going to be great. You shouldn’t need to change a thing. Some of my favorite Teles have the 6 saddle bridge.

There are things that Teles do better than strats, in general. And vice versa. They’re just different. If I had to have only one electric, it’d be a Tele style.

If I was in a bar brawl, I would leave the strat on the stage and grab the tele. Most likely it will still be in tune afterwards.
