Let's see your guitars with gold hardware.

I just bought a guitar that has it. I've always thought it was too flashy. I bought the guitar on Reverb. Honestly I didn't realize the hardware was gold until I had already bought it. The ad clearly states gold hardware. Lol. I need to read more carefully. The pictures in the ad make the hardware look chrome.

No - wears down quickly and within 1-2 years if you play it a lot, the gold wears off, becomes dull, and fades.....if it comes with it cool, but I would never advise someone to change all their chrome or nickel hardware to gold....

Very few guitars look good IMO with gold hardware. The Les Paul black beauty being one of them.

I used to have this Fender Feluxe Player's Strat, which had gold hardware. (I had swapped in a loaded pickguard with Kinmans & Kinman's K-9 switching electronics, which I liked better, and I had Schaller locking tuners swapped in since I liked locking tuners - I found gold ones to match the rest of the hardware).

Fender's replacement for the Deluxe Player's Strat was the MIM Deluxe Strat, which has nickel hardware. I guess they wanted to avoid issues with the gold wearing down easily.

I had the very same guitar. It had CS 54 pups I won from Music Zoo. I liked that guitar.

Gold really compliments some finishes but distracts from others .

    Chrome>nickel>black>gold.

I have guitars with chrome, nickel, and black hardware. No gold.

It really depends on the finish. I think gold hardware does not suit sunburst finishes in most cases. However it looks awesome on white blonde finishes. It also pairs well with black.

Other than how it doesn't stay gold, I like gold hardware on some Strats. Mary Kaye Strats look good with gold. the 2004 2TSB Anniversary model looks really good with it.

I have an old strat with some gold plated parts, this one has some brass parts which somehow make the gold look better, it can be the contrast between chrome and brass that sometimes upsets the look.

Now If the gold was all brass instead of gold plated that would really be an attraction, especially after it had aged, just think, little green bit's you can blame on verdigris instead of boogers and hand snot.;)

But that’s only if you don’t use real gold, of course... :whistling:
