Some of you might have noticed by now that I have a thing for instrumentals.

I'm primarily a fan of grunge, punk, hard rock, surf rock and funk.

But I know how to settle down, too, and these instrumentals are as good as any song since then.

This topped the charts in 1959:

This topped the charts in 1960:

This topped the charts in 1968:

We could add stuff like Kind of Blue, Alone in San Francisco, etc, but it would never end. So I'm just going by chart-toppers.

Any other chart-topping instrumentals to add?

This one should sound familiar in here, with a title like "Classical Gas"

These are rather rock-ish. But that's cool. I wasn't exactly explicit about that contrast.

Technically not his best. But always a feel good instrumental, and great to improvise with when it comes into my head.

Sleepwalk and Apache with Hank Marvin were the first two to come to mind.

Holy smokes, haven't listened to that for years.
I played that 45 to death as a kid and this is the first time I've heard it in stereo, through headphones...better than I remembered.
    Thank you!

Jeff Beck and Brian Setzer both do great versions of "Sleepwalk".
