To be born in an earlier time and remain your 21st century self, when would it be?

Using wealth to manipulate the country?
    Having loyal servants?

Sounds like more of the same to me.

    Reminder of the rules:

    NO GIRLY OR CHEESECAKE PHOTOS:
Because this is a largely male dominated forum, "guys being guys" leads to posts containing scantily-clad women from time to time. This has proven to lead to members pushing the acceptable limits of this with ever more risque photos in kind of a competition to see how far things can go. So, to prevent this we don't allow ANY such "Girly" or "Cheesecake" photos of scantily-clad women -- with guitars or not. HNGD or not.

The fly in the ointment here is that the 21 century me can't out run ancestors with pitch forks or decedents with numaguns (yet to be invented) :D

Physics has shown that traveling into the future may be possible, into the past is not. But for the benefit of this thread, as others have said, I would go back to about 1970 and correct a few things I did as a kid that have always made me feel a little guilty. Stood up to a few people I should have stood up to. Changed a few decisions that would make me feel better about the person I am. Not that I was a bad person per se. I was always known as the "nice guy", but not always sure I deserved that moniker. Plus there were a couple girls I later found out I could have dated, that I would have liked to date, but was too timid to ask. And I would have started playing guitar and piano sooner and would have taken it much more serious.

By the way, those that state the world is only 6,000 yrs old are mis-stating something scientist had once said. What we have is roughly 6000 yrs of written human history. In other words how long a complete writing system has been in existence. People were around long before writing systems existed.

There is a pretty much only one segment of society that would find traveling back in time anything other than disadvantageous or even dangerous.
