No Tokai club on Strat-talk! Since all my guitars are Tokais, I thought of starting one.
I think I might be eligible to join, I have one or two Tokais.
Early Goldstar ST80 in Metallic Blue (a bit darker than Lake Placid) & probably my favourite - Goldstar ST50, battered, dented & in need of a refret before much too longer. What Tokai call Lake Placid Blue, even though it's much closer to Ice Blue Metallic.
1980 Silver Star SS60 & 1984 Goldstar ST50, Olympic White
Goldstar ST55s in Sonic Blue (actually closer to Daphne) & Metallic Red (Candy Apple Red)
1980 Breezysound TE70 in 2 tone SB, & 1982 TE120 in natural with abalone(?) binding.
2007 ES130, natural
I'm quite fond of Tokais.
Count me in. One of my favourite guitars, not sure what year but it plays and sounds great so not too bothered about the details.
Used to belong to Micky Moody ex Whitesnake and Snafu among others, he used it mostly for slide and then sold it to his friend Papa George.
George Part exchanged it for an SG at Chandlers in Kew who modded it with CS Texas specials.
Lots of natural relic going on their, without a premium price!
For anyone who wants some historical background, this article is interesting & accurate.

Stratman, nice of you to post here.
I bought my first Tokai only 4 years ago, so it's still kinda new to me. I’m also a member on TF, and while looking for info in the TF archives I ran into a lot of your posts. I learned a lot from you that’s worth knowing.
Me joining TF coincided somewhat with you leaving , which I find regrettable.
So it's nice to meet you here, a Tokai club without Stratman would be incomplete.
Three Goldstars. From the top: ST40, ST50, ST55.
Very nice guitars guys, thanks for posting.
My other ones
Fom L to R: 2010 LS80-1980 TE80-1980 CE350S-1984/85? ST55-2009 LS95S
Most kind of you.
What's the white/blonde Breezy in your later post?
And didn't we have a Tokai club on here ages ago? Perhaps the threads just die after a period of inactivity?
1980 Breezysound TE80:
One piece body, lacquer finish, “V”-neck
1st fret : 22mm/0.866
12th fret : 22,4/0.884
Fretboard radius : 7.25”
I’ve used the search function and went thru all the pages in the guitar owners clubs section, didn’t find a Tokai club.
Only got one, but it's a good one imo... 1981 Springy Sound, '54 style 2TS:
Oooh, very nice, I've never even seen one of those in real life. Sounds like a similar neck to my 1980 ST80. Where did you find that?
I bought it from Mark(villager).
PS it’s a genuine hybrid, totally period incorrect (but it plays and sounds good).
’52 features: body pickguard holes – round string tree - headstock logo and string tree placement
’56 features: “V” shape neck – sharp edged headstock
’62 features: veneer rosewood fingerboard
I love anything MIJ from the 70's and 80's in particular...
My Talbo and Silver Star - both early 80's
I like the Talbo.
Can't have been cheap if Mark sold it! Very nice - if you get bored with it, let me know.
Is that a metal Talbo or a wooden one?
I believe the wooden Talbo is only available from the late '90s onwards and has the later 4 bolt neck join. Mine is one of the earlier ones with the 2 bolt neck join
Ah, I see. I've always wanted to try a metal bodied Talbo.
If you like a Strat I would suggest there is a good chance you will like a Talbo It plays very much like a Strat (which is a good thing for me ) but it has a bit more... articulation, sustain maybe, chime... :?: I'm yet to decide on the 'right' pup heights but I have the neck and middle pups dialled in - just can't get the sweet spot for the neck to balance with them
Of course it could just be this guitar (I've only played 2 Talbos, and both left the same impression) but I suspect the aluminium body "flavours" the sound in the same way a different wooden body does (and yes, the body does make a difference IMHO but after the neck, pups and bridge. And before the retorts start - everyone is welcome to their own opinion ).
Just joined the club and I am flat out in love. My Amr Dlx is just collecting dust.
There are some great guitars here but I am a sucker for a natural 335, and a flame top none the less! 2007, is that an MIJ model or what Stratman? I have seen some pretty cheap new Tokai LPs on eBay lately but at the street price of $350+/- I can't imagine they are MIJ.
