(big thanks to @Thrup'ny Bit and @Will Lefeurve for presenting the idea and giving the impulse. :D ;) :thumb:)

This thread is meant to try to bundle/list Tokai related anomalies, and maybe solve a few while we're at it!

    Okay, I'll start.

    On top of my list, this letter;

There are at least 2 pages, where/who has the second (or more) pages?

    Mystery #2

    - are there 2 types of 'E's, type A (hand made exact alloy reproduction of a '54 single coil), type B (production model of the same model), or are these the 'E' and 'U' designations?

I know very little about Tokai but await further revelations with interest.

So there are my top 3 mysteries, I'll give it a pause, for now :whistling:.

And as @jofish so nicely puts it :thumb:, let's make this a juicy one. :D ;)

I've e-mailed Scooby Doo and the gang, but they may be a while. We may have to investigate ourselves. :sneaky:

Re: the letter to Mr. Fender.

    :D:D:D

And meanwhile, I contacted (mailed) the source who provided the first page, to hear he'd gotten hold of those other pages?

It's still a mystery to me...
What, if anything is the significance of any of this?
Seems sorta like an inside joke.

Try to find answers/look for facts, rather than going with years of assumptions.

    No, sincere.

Very cool! Is this letter something you have physically or did you find it on the web?

Problem is, you're the Tokai expert here - we're the ones who should be asking you questions, we know nothing :D :D

Out of interest (this isn't really a mystery, just an easy question for you, I'm sure), I see that the letter you posted above has the Tokai logo that you'd see on mid-80s Goldstars, Breezys etc.

Was this the general company logo even pre-82 (when the letter is dated) and the 'spaghetti' logo just their own sneaky homage to Fender? Hope that makes sense, maybe a stupid question...

Thanks, but there are much more knowledgeable, more (decades) Tokai experienced people than me around. :thumb:

Most of what I know, I've read on the web/forums or learned from friends. :D

This is what I see on the catalog covers, but they may have well used both logos side by side?;)

Here, they used a sort of 'spaghetti' logo; 1982 ←

    The 'letter's' logo; 1987→

    That's interesting, thanks!

I've never seen the '82 logo you posted before. Part of the reason I ask is because my 81 Springy still has the spaghetti logo and I wondered if the change to the other one was part of a wider shift.

    Cheers!

Out of interest and playing devils advocate, are you sure that letter is authentic?

    What is its provenance?

Stuff like that is very easy to fake.
