I am also an old guy. Old enough to have serious regrets over every guitar I have ever sold or traded for that Matter Like a 65 Rick and a 62 Jag.

I think you only need one great example of guitar for each style you play Jazz, Country, Acoustic etc. However it's all a matter of want not need.

I have one blue/purple (damn thing changes colors depending on the light) '98 MIM Strat that I'm learning to play.

I think I'd eventually like a nice black vintage model like Gilmour's "Black Strat", but I'm definitely not ready for that yet. At this point, I'm not even good enough to pretend to be a poser. :)

    How much is too much?

Wow. Them's some gorgeous geetars. I'm brand new and have had up to six but recently sold off a couple because I just ordered (wait for it) a '63 style relic Strat from Big Tex, in Surf Green with rosewood fingerboard thank you very much. Here's a pic pre sale. The Epi Les Paul is gone now. Kinda sad about that one. It was nice for an Epi. Also have a '96 Texas Special and have sold a custom Tele. The Desert Sand Tele in the back is a Baja Classic with a Callaham bridge and plate.

    Rock On

Just found you guys. I'm another old guy, and not playing out much anymore, and am trying to thin my herd down from about 30 guitars. NEVER the strats (71 blond w/ Tex specials, 95 Special w/P90s, EMG Gilmour equiped Mex, Buddy Guy w/Hot Gold Sensors). Mostly a single coil guy, I rotate Tele's, an Esquire, Firebird P90 and SG classic, as back ups. The only buckers are an old V and LP. Odd balls are a sitar, lap steel, a Chiquita, an Italia II, and a Dean Jazz box. I'm sure even the ones I'm forgetting about will be hard to part with.

    I have 14 guitars.

    6 Telecasters, 2 Stratocasters, 1 Les Paul, 1 335, 1 Peavey T60, 1 Violin Bass, 2 acoustics.

Most of my friends think I have a problem, my girlfriend thinks I'm nuts and I don't care...

I've lost count of exactly how many guitars I have..

let's see.. ten Strats, eight Teles, two Les Pauls, one SG Jr,
one Jazzmaster, one Univox Hi-Flyer, one Epiphone Firebird,
one Gibson ES-125TDC, one Hamer bass, a pair of Danelectros,
a Gretsch Round-Up reissue, one Gibson J-200, one Framus
12-string acoustic, one Dobro, one Kay acoustic, one classical
acoustic, one Simon & Patrick acoustic, a '62 Eko acoustic..
hmmmm. that totals 36 right there!

I'm also assembling a couple of partscasters that I won't count
for the moment 'cuz they aren't finished yet..

hi, my name is Chris and I think I may just have a serious
    obsession with guitars!

I have 25 instuments and 2 more on the way. I mostly play Gretsch's and Italia's. but I do own a few bluegrass instruments. You know banjo's, mandolin, delcimers, ect. Nice place you have here!
