Some of the most amazing guitar lead I've ever heard right here. He can't sing but he's using his Strat to sing and also right in the feedback sweet spot. Just gorgeous, enjoy!
I'm not certain what you're saying about Trower can't sing. Are you saying you don't like the singer of this song? It's not Trower, it was James Dewar. It's all personal choice, but I love his singing. I don't know how Trower could sing...he's always making that Trower guitar face.
The singer of this song is one of my favorites of all time, Dewar... Trower maybe can sing a little but that's not his strength as a musician. He uses a Stratocaster and sings through the guitar...
I was a little late to the Robin Trower party...I didn't discover him until around 1984. I spent the next 5 years playing anything I could get my hands on from him. His *tone* just mesmerizes me. His album titled "Beyond The Mist" is waaaay underated--a combination of 4 studio tracks and 4 live tracks. There's an amazing live version of "Bridge of Sighs" on it that was worth the price of the album. I was fortunate enough to see him live in the late 80s. I regret that I haven't seen him live again since. Here's an era of his that is so amazing--he recorded an album with Jack Bruce under the name BLT. His playing just *reeks* of amazing tone:
Another long term fan of Robin. Played that lived album to death. Too rolling stoned is a fearsome song. Back in the day I thought he sounded very much like Hendrix.
Robin Trower - The Cat with the Strat....I’ve been a fan since the late 70s. I love the textures he creates and how he articulates what he plays. I’ve seen him live, met him.....even got a signature model Strat. Fave number.....
That live version of Daydream (the whole life album really) got me through high school. That and a lot of weed... The two went together really well.
