Yea, I myself blur the Blues / Rock line far more than I intend.
My tracks dont start out that way, though I suspect its because I was a Rock / Metal player for decades before I had even heard old school Blues.

We're all a mix of our influences.

The core of what I do is blues/rock based via Clapton, Beck, and Page. The one thing I did was when I was a youngun, I looked to see where they got it from. Then I was introduced to the jazz side of things by Howard and my Dad.

Around 12 or so, I started listening to everything I could get my hands on. From Roy Acuff to Roy Buchanan. It's all just music. :D

Speaking of Buch, this was meant to be a tribute to him. But, it sounds more like Page. Go figure. ;)

    Great take E.

Mine from the same. It's amazing how a tritone sub for a simple turnarond can cause a bimp in ze le-road. (Apologies to Peter Sellers wherever he is)

Great stuff from @fezz parka and @mjark!
One of the things i like best about this thread is the breadth of interpretation as
to what constitutes a 'blues' feeling; there are two perfect examples right there!

As fezz stated a couple of posts back, we are all a mix of our influences.
i'm sure that you can hear a few of mine in this:

i guess i'm taking over as de facto host here, at least for the moment.
    Let's keep it going, folks!

While there are many blues "styles", to me it's just a feeling. You can play the blues over anything. :D

Perhaps not in structure, but in content. I'll take content over adherence to form any day.

Zakk Wylde (Ozzy Osbourne band) plays pentatonic scales and licks exclusively, but I wouldn't call his music Blues.
    That was my point.

I do agree that Blues is a feeling, a state of mind.

In my view it does. Moonlight Sonata is the blues. To me. To you, it's whatever you want to call it. Get my meaning? :D
