wiry, welcome back, and TY for the sub and your kind comments.
mshivy, thanks to you as well. Since you enjoyed the last tune, i guess
i'll post another somewhat upbeat number. :)

This is an original i just started working on, it's in a pretty rough state but there's
definitely something interesting coming out of it:

Played on Shelley, my AV/EJ hybrid...

You folks may know how much i love Eric Johnson, and sometimes i really wish i could play the way he does... this tune is my version of his songwriting style, but i can't come close to his soloing. So i just have to play it the way i am... awkward.

Very nice Dogletnoir! Eric Johnson was and still is an important influence in my guitar playing too. Definitely the way he "navigate" around the fretboard is very inspiring and enjoyable, both in terms of clean chordsy stuffs and lead overdriven stuff.

Your tune has some of those little EJ moments here and there but with your own taste to it which is cool :) Thanks for sharing !

That was beautiful dogletnoir. You are a vey good writer as well as a guitarist. And the solo was cool too. I really liked the volume knob swell and lines going on at the 2:30 mark. Great playing!

Very nice. That was some beautiful chords there, Dog.
I don´t think you have posted that kind of modal thing before here.

Man, this is easily my favorite thread on the site. You have a great touch with the delay as well.

Very nice tune with a smooth sound and some cool playing. Interesting tone coming from a strat, I like it.

Some very interesting note choices/ chord work going on on this one. You played atonal and challenging things and it worked. You went even further than you usually do here. Those volume knob swells are becoming a cool trademark of yours. Good job.

I'm going to listen to this later when I get back home, my office speakers just gave up on me, kinda bummer hahaha. I love that you now have strong themes on your playing, it really put a strong context and perspective in your songs that make the whole listening part more fun and somehow "interactive", if you know what I mean :)

Will comment after I have a listen later today Dogletnoir, thanks for sharing :)

I enjoyed Another Flippertronic Encounter, I think it's quite dark at first, but as soon as you started laying those major 3rds and open up the mixolydian scales, I think the direction of the song becomes very clear! I like the subtle dynamic changes in the song as well as the epic huge delay tone. Awesome one Dogletnoir :)

Dogletnoir, Messenger Bag is lovely! A very fun tune to listen to, the melody is very simple yet very effective in creating the vibe for the backing track. The authentic "Dogletnoir style" can be heard easily in this tune :)

All Red is also nice to listen to, that catchy intro arpeggio on the rhythm track really opens very well for the rest of the song! I love how your delay tone effectively makes the "spacey" ambient shines very well on this song. Excellent stuff :)

wiry, thanks! You get the 'sole comment' award for this past Spacey SaTurday. :)
Now it's STandards Sunday again. Since we were looking at the cycle of 4ths in the last improv challenge, here's a short attempt at a tune from 1933 that illustrates some cycle of 4ths movement in its harmony:

What a great thread, already! :D We've got owner's threads on ST, and now perhaps a member's section?

Hahaha, I'm sure it's the "sole comment" award but not the "sole listening" award, you got some listens to the track already before I took a listen :)

As for Moonglow, I love tunes like that! You did a nice job doing it with your special characteristic as usual. I'm a huge fan of "oldie music" such as Frank Sinatra and the others; I love how they are composed in a way that clearly describes the vibe of the song even without using lyrics. Nice one Dogletnoir, thanks for sharing :)

Sweet Moonglow doglet! Love the tone you're squeezing out of your Esquire. Beautifully played my friend... You've been very prolific lately, I need to know what vitamins you're taking.
