Ron you've got a lot of weight on your shoulders, it's good to put some off on others. Just what you told here helps lighten the burden, it gives you someone to share it with.

It seems like there is a lot of us that are in a very similar situation or nearing a terrible time in our lives.

I will be praying for the both of you.

Ron...I have no words. I'd tell you to be strong...but you always have that covered.

Just know that hope is getting beamed your way. With everything I can spare.

    So.. today was interesting.

First and foremost, Mom is still intubated and running a pic line in ICU. She is mostly sedated so we can only hope the time passes quietly by while they wait for test results and form a plan of action. Its tough not being able to be there for her, but knowing she is under great care makes it tolerable.

And then there's this.. Middle of the day, my sister and her husband show up. 'Just visiting' apparently. So they sat on the sofa and we talked about mom for a bit.. then sister says 'potty time' and heads for the bathroom. After an extended period, I get suspicious and find her in moms room taking pics of things. Naturally and in my most calm voice ask "wtf are you doing?" she said she was just taking pics to get an idea of what was there, just in case. Realizing this was going to probably not end well she goes out and say's they have to run, etc... Siblings, I swear.

Other than that the day needed filling so.. My daughter saw this pic of a squirrel sitting at a picnic table feeder and said she would love to have a couple of those. So out to the shop and the scrap pile I went and made a couple for her.

Just slapped them together really, not overly worried about precision. Squirrels wont care.

Damn @CigBurn. You showed great restraint under the circumstances and it doesn’t leave me with a good impression of your sibling at all. I went through a rough ride helping my dad through his last few years of independence and we’ve been doing the same with my in-laws. My dad lived across the road and we moved my in-laws about half a block away so we could take care of them. My mother in law just passed in January. It’s damn hard taking care of elderly parents and the kids that don’t do it haven’t a clue how difficult and heart wrenching it is. I’m genuinely angry for you about that stupidity.

Keep up the good work and I’m sending all my hopes for a strong recovery your mom’s way.

I have a sibling the same. It's always the sisters. Selfish money-grabbing little twerps.

Don't worry about her... I have the solution for you.... It's called Facebook.

Just post what she did on your wall and share it with the rest of your family.
You will be surprised how many of them come out of the woodwork and stonewall her at the next family do.

    it's called Just desserts.

The squirrel picnic tables are cool.
What your sister did is totally uncool.
If she has keys to the house, don't take them away.
    Just get the locks changed.
    ASAP.

Wow brother, shame on your sister...but you know - what goes around comes around...good for you caring for your mom and further more feeling for it, as it shows on this thread you shared with us.... Keep up brother, don't let the evil take your heart...good always wins.

May as well keep you folks updated on things, while I ruminate on them as well.

Spoke to the docs this morning earlier and there is a small bit new info. As most of you already know a few years ago my mother had a quad bypass operation. During that time they also noted some significant stenosis (A type of deterioration of the valves) in some areas on two valves that they chose not to treat due to her age and risks involved. They at the time said it was likely to be about ten years before that would require serious consideration or attention. It now appears that is a contributor to her present set of conditions. Most likely exacerbated by the new external factors. So now she has more advanced stenosis and is several years older in a risky environment for someone her age under the current circumstances. Since I am her medical decision maker, I was advised to begin to consider these things going forward. I know what her wishes are for these things so it's really all about following those.

Though I am considering sending in a tattoo artist to do something on her.. It would piss her off no end and may be the kick in the pants she needs to get better just so she can hit me with wooden kitchen spoons later. :)

Be well and stay safe folks. And thanks for all of you being there with your kindness and thoughts.

    Ron
