Too much time on our hands
I guess the lawyers got involved pretty quickly though -- Zeppelin claimed they stole that song fair-and-square!
No, that was part of the unfortunate season 2 reboot.
That show could be rebooted. 'Course, the name would have to be tweaked...
For sure it could be rebooted.
That definitely was the case. First couple of times I laughed, cause there is some cleverness to it and love for the subject matter, but it wore my patience fast. I think that and Bobby "Boris" Pickett's "Monster's Holiday" are two songs I'd be happy to forget ever existed.
The Ventures version is lacking the drive of the original and is definitely at a slower tempo. Also, you can just hear the guitar lead line on the ventures but not on the original. Really not sure of the whys and wherefores but no doubt there are two different versions going on here. Perhaps a bit strong to declare The Ventures' version as rubbish, but I without doubt favour the original.
Another legacy of the show is the popularity of the Hawaii Five-O theme music. The tune was composed by Morton Stevens, who also composed numerous episode scores performed by the CBS Orchestra. The theme was later recorded by the Ventures, whose version reached No. 4 on the Billboard Hot 100 pop chart.
The above from Wikipedia...................................Seems it was the CBS orchestra and later by The Ventures?
