Got back from trekking in Nepal to find my 5E3 kit waiting for me.

Just finished putting it together but waiting on the P12Q speaker to arrive. Should be here in a day or two.

Not an exact replica. I liked this kit because it includes a few reliability improvements and small mods to tighten up the bass n reduce the idle noise. I don't worship at the alter of Period Correctness so I'm cool with that (apologies to those that do). It also has a nice pine/plywood cab which is covered in the tweed-look vinyl, which I much prefer to real tweed.

Will prob try a few bigger mods I have in mind, later. I'm ok with improving the shortcomings of old designs.

Nice !!! I also prefer vinyl over tweed. I just wouldn't be able to keep cloth clean.

Haha.... At least fabric tweed looks good, just impractical. Lacquered tweed might be more practical but looks soooo gross, imho.

... and the Vintagely Correct brigade just had kittens :)

The use of a turret board over eyelets is interesting.

Is your Ground Switch re-tasked as a standby?
