At Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.
Rory....two of the very best ever....I swear I am just listening to the encore of Isle of Wight 1970
I was there it was a pretty good set
I love that video. You are blessed...were you one of the hippies they show from time to time on the film??
I seem to not tire of Rory, perhaps because there are a lot of recordings of him. I was enamored with SRV from the 1st time I heard him on Rock Line just before Texas Flood came out. I way over did it too, listened and played nothing else until about 1997 and then just stopped. I love his passion and skills, but honestly don't listen too much to him regularly, but he shaped my taste for sure.
@AxemanVR ... those looks hauntingly familiar!!! lol
I guess I was but there were 750,000 people there so I guess it would be hard to spot me. There are several famous videos from that festival I like the one of Free doing alright now, it's seen a lot on Arts and music channels
My dad was there as well and always said that when Rory and taste came on every one kind of stopped what they were doing and he lit the place up .
Nice seeing the two most famous sunburst strats in the world together though , the gigs and performance s those guitars have done is amazing really.
Its kinda eerie to be 3' away from those Strat's. Knowing at one time Stevie and Rory had them in their hands. Seeing pics and video of them playing them.
That was a great experience. Something I would love to but probably will never be able to do.
Saw Stevie in '85 with Albert Collins opening, then again in '89 with Jeff Beck. Saw Rory in late seventies opening for I want to say ZZ Top. But not sure.
...we once were sunburst...
I saw SRV twice too.
I saw Rory at the Rainbow in London mid seventies. Great gig, around Christmas, and the man was fantastic. He has been a big influence on my playing. Never got to see Stevie, who was also a wonderful player. It seems all my guitar influences play or played Strats. Is that a coincidence???????
I need to get up to the RRHOF, I keep saying I am going to go. It is only 2 hours away.
That's it. Next week, I am going. Booking tickets today.
I was going to "Like" this post, but, seriously? "only 2 hours away"?!?...
Okay, fine... I'll "Like" it - but - PICTS OR IT DIDN'T HAPPEN!!!
Whats worse is I drive to Cleveland a ton from October to April to ride my bike at Www.raysmtb.com, and have since 2007.
I have managed to see the house from the movie A Christmas Story though, so partial credit?
Oh The Humanity!!!
So does anyone wonder if these are the real deal with their DNA on them or a copies from Fender master builders at the Custom Shop?
It makes me sad to see them just hanging there and not being used.
