That's something I've been considering too. We're exploring space but haven't fully explored our own oceans. If something can move fast deep underwater, just think how fast it could be in a nitrogen/oxygen-based atmosphere. Plus, if something can stand the pressures of the oceans' depths, it maybe be able to easily cope with G-forces that would kill any of us. That breaking-the-sound-barrier-without-a-sonic-boom thing has me puzzled though.

but wouldn’t AI be a natural path of evolution? As far as biological organisms go, nature can only take things so far... life might eventually become capable of transcending its biological platform and generate not only intelligence but also consciousness in the form of machines that could be built to last for centuries or millennia. In that event interstellar travel lasting thousands of years would be feasible and “life” would have find a way to escape the earth’s eventual demise and colonize the galaxy or compete for its colonization.

all vile speculation of course, but who knows.

To join the ranks here who have seen something unexplainable, I too have had a visual that left me feeling that I had seen something special. To start though, as a nerdy kid I used to subscribe to a bi-monthly news report paper NICAP because aliens and life out there seemed pretty cool. The paper would report sightings from around the world and descriptions of what people saw. I think I was around eight grade (early 70’s) ? I don’t remember.

I was walking to a friends house in Portland around 9 or 10 at night. Super still out, and one of those skies that was clear but misty, just cool enough for an easy fog under the right circumstances. It was very quiet that night very low traffic noise. As I was nearing my friends house I looked up and saw this lone big headlight shining northward. Very bright. And here was this big perfect all black triangle floating low and going very slow about 200, maybe 300 feet up. Just hovering along completely silent at a very low speed. No other lights except for that one big lone headlight that shone out faintly illuminating the night misty air. I was already a very nerdy interested kid and was pretty taken back to what I was witnessing so I really, really tried to get any other info but I could not make out anything except a black triangle with no other lighting. And tried as hard as I could to hear a sound but it was silent. And I watched this thing hover and proceed at a slow speed in a straight line north until I could see it no more. So I’d guess a few minutes. It was so low that if it was some sort of plane or helicopter it would have been rip roaring loud. I was pretty excited about it! I’m guessing it was below radar.

But here’s the kicker, when the next bi-monthly NICAP publication came out there was the exact rendition of what I saw reported by numerous people in the Rockies. Many people saw them/it and the illustration was pretty much spot on with what I saw. Still super fresh in my mind.

Around 1964, I did see something flying though the sky throwing off a bunch of colors along with my mother and brother that to this day I have no idea what it was.

Here's my musical tribute to alien abduction. Narration starts around 2:45.

If these "aliens" are so advanced and have cloaking devices etc why are they usually spotted as large easily seen objects with lights on them? ;)

Space craft from this planet don't have lights why would aliens?

    Also, showing up on radar?

Stealth technology is pretty old hat here, I'm sure aliens with their super high tech stuff could manage to remain unseen?

UFO sightings have been around since time immemorial and far more since WWII, why have these aliens not made themselves known?

I saw a ufo one night some years back now. I watched it go straight up, straight back down. Then 90 degrees to the left and back. Then it shot off into the distance and out of sight. Pretty weird. And I've got no clue what it was. This was long before drones. At least a decade. Sometime before 1999, when I graduated high school.

Have to agree, definitely no signs of intelligent life here on Earth.

Eerily similar, but my experience was in 1987, so they have been observing us for some time. :)
