God I hate silverburst.
Clear/Transparent finishes on multi-piece bodies with crap grain alignment. Makes it look like it was built in somebody's garage.
I quite like Antigua... probably more on a Jazzmaster than a Strat. Definitely not on a Tele.
I really don't like the Tequila sunrise on the Player Plus series. But then I think the Player Plus series on the whole is a big chunk of disappointment.
And when did 80s crackle come back?
Fenders and Gibsons are strange.
There are some colors that I don't mind, or even like on Fender, but not Gibson.
Silverburst and Pelham Blue are two of those colors. Absolutely hate them on Gibson, but like them on Fenders.
I always find these comments confusing. It’s almost like everyone that says a heavy faux relic is overdone or looks unnatural, compared to what? A case queen vintage instrument? Here’s a few real road worn actual guitars, look very similar to the unnatural faux relics if you ask me.
I'm not gonna submit my guitar finish for "ugliest finish."
Maybe those should have their own thread for 'ugliest lack of finish'.
Exactly, they look like trash. Guys compare their 50 year old couch potato guitar to a guitar that’s actually been used and abused. Not polished with essential oils after each use.
That’s the point to a heavy relic finish. How can someone say they’re doing it wrong when that’s what the examples of a heavily road worn guitar looks like. Nothing natural look about those ones.
Anything with racing stripes... I just don't understand it...
Personally I dont understand the painted on flames. Its not going to make your car or bike go faster b...
That's just a thing that was cool 70 years ago, when hot rods weren't vintage but happening. Those cars were so badass you could hardly make them any more hot... unless maybe if fire was running on both sides?
That’s one of my favorites.
Yeah, some people just love silverburst.
I can't quite explain the nature of my own aversion to it.
I guess it sort of reminds me of a thing they had going on in the 1990's where some pickup trucks were painted two-tone, but not with sharp definition between the two colors, but rather with a fade from one to the other.
I saw one or two of them with the fade paint, grey to black.
It looked hideous to me at the time.
Not fond of Fiesta red or white pick-guards on any guitar.
If I got one it would be in line to be painted with a new pick-guard added.
which is interesting as next to Black on a guitar Candy apple Red or metallic red is my favourite.
Boiled egg yolk?
I named the pic 'baby satan poop'. So yep pretty much.
Not necessarily ugly, but boring and uninspiring…black.
But antiqua for the win!
Yup, any of those tail to horn fades on the new Player Plus series. Yuck.
But I really reserve my vitriol for whatever the color finish is they use on the Acoustasonics. Color doesn't matter, it's more texture, I think it's called Cafeteria Melamine Tabletop, they're all equally gag inducing. It makes it look like pressboard.
Its a car thing.
If you dont get it its ok.
We have winner.
I believe it's called Pukeburst.
