    FB52BFB3-63E5-4C17-B778-3118AC437DE9.jpeg Howdy everyone,

I recently saw the limited edition Blue Burst Stratocaster in GC. It was on sale for $499 plus an additional 15% for some reason bringing the price down to $425 total. Unfortunately the only one they had was a floor model that was abused by what I assume was an army of kindergarteners from the sheer number of dings and scratches.

After some thought I decided to roll the dice, order one and pick it up in store. The one that was sent was not the same color as and other I have seen. The blue is less vibrant and much more transparent. The outer sides of the burst are even transparent. The tiger maple is also very figured and has lots of contrast. It’s almost like they ran out of the proper blue color and had to mix more of the clear coat to finish it properly. I think it’s super unique so decided to customize it even more with a pick guard, Seymour Duncan’s and new knobs. Anyone else seen a MIM Blue Burst this color blue and this transparent on the finish? Maybe the pictures don’t do it justice because it is super transparent but all the others I have seen are so dark.

Neck and middle are the Seymour Duncan SHR-1n Hot Rails and bridge is SH-6b Duncan Distortion. I’m considering replacing the middle with a single slot EMG. The hot rails are very similar in both neck and middle positions. I have to say though the Hot Rails are super HOT and scream metal through my Orange TT Dark Jim Root and AC30 all the same. Really really fantastic pickups. The Duncan Distortion is great for more rock oriented stuff but don’t seem as hot as the rails.

Sweet looking Strat, I'm sure it sounds even better. I've seen a couple of those finishes in my local GC, I've debated buying one to mod because I love blue finishes but I've never actually bought one.

I'm not into modding away from the tried and true but that finish almost demands it.

That looks like a pretty damn sweet set-up. Well done.

Wow, I really like that. I can't see myself playing it but whoever was slinging it would have my attention. Is that the Bonnie Raitt color?

Great looking guitar....I'm shocked that no one has posted the BF GC ad here....

They have an MIM standard in BlueBurst on sale:

Not the exact guitar, but still pretty cool....

I don't usually like mother of toilet seat guards (can you tell?), but that looks GREAT!!

That is actually the exact one I bought. I just changed the pick guard and dropped in SD pickups. That’s why I think the color is so unique. Mine is just super light compared to the spec.

03225BA2-7913-4450-9DA0-FCEB77FA85C8.jpeg I’m debating putting antiques bronze hardware (locking tuners, bridge, term bar, jack plate, etc...). I think it would be pretty rad.

Yeah it’s all set up. Action is as low as it can go without buzzing and notes/harmonics all play dead on the intended note so says to good old strobe.
