Not sure I've ever seen the wood grain at an off angle like this. I kinda dig it. Looks more flamey to me.

Gorgeous! Probably am odd piece of wood they didn’t want to go to war and just made it work. Or a cap of the same sort.

I've seen it before and it is a nice look. You don't see it often though. Nice one piece quilted maple.

I see quilt. Sexy quilt. I know "keeper" can be a four letter word for you. But I like some quilt.

Wow, non book matched curly maple veneer.
    One of a kind.
Did you buy it or just a find?
    I love it. Just amazing.

    Life is good,

Thinking about it. It's an Epiphone Les Paul Ultra with a case for $350. The gold hardware is of course a little crusty. What makes it an Ultra are Alnico Classic/Alnico Classic Plus humbuckers and a chambered body.

That actually looks better than they way the usually mirror it, they should do that more often.

I gave my gear stash to my wife yesterday to help with the trip to NY her and my daughter are taking Sunday. They have to go quarantine for 2 weeks so my daughter can start school on 2 Sep. No new guitars for me anytime soon. Was also looking at a Jimmie Vaughan Strat as well.

I've seen one like that, but it's not common.

Looks like the quilt part is one piece. I wonder if you took the pickups out and looked to see if it was an actual cap or veneer. Looks awesome though:D I’m betting it’s a cap.

Somebody was tipsy when they glued the veneer on - does Epi actually do solid, flamed tops?

No. Up until this year with their "Inspired By Gibson" line, they didn't even do solid maple tops, except for certain limited editions, and signature models, like the Slash and Joe Bonamassa models.

All but those high end models have a carved mahogany top with a maple veneer. Even the models that do have solid maple tops have a flame veneer.

Was gonna ask you how you cleaned the guitar I bought from you. I just bought an epi lp custom that needs hardware cleaned. $330.

Wow, that's really something special, I like it! I'm surprised whoever came across that one-piece top didn't save it for a more expensive model. Maybe they're just working quickly, taking what's in front of them and moving on?
