It sounds good, those pickups are pretty hot. At least the bridge is. A little undefined if I had to describe them. I have pure vintage 65's in my other strat and the VM pickups aren't as chimey. I'm thinking of making this my main gigging guitar for a backup with a humbucker.

Congrats on the new Squier. It looks awesome

Try lowering the pups. That should make them sound more clear and defined.

I've had one for a while. Great guitar...pickups are quite hot...nothing crazy but hotter than regular single coils. Guitar is well made..neck is slim and feels great.

i recently picked up 2017 HSS VM at a pawn shop. It still had the plastic film on everything and the body and neck were like new. As much as I liked it, I ended up selling it. I was in the market for a bass and I was able to nearly double my money on the VM. And yes, as others have said, they have very nice necks!

I do have a little regret but I can't keep 'em all.

I have a vintage white one and it's one of my favorites.

Just got a used blonde (not translucent tho) Squier VM and the neck feels amazingly great.

Not a fan of those SC-101 tho.

I replaced the pickups on my VM 70’s with a set of Tonerider City Limits hat I got from a fellow forum member who was nice enough to Mark the hot wire for me as I am color blind somewhat. Bridge is 9.1 K.

I also replaced the bridge saddles as the factory saddles stripped during set up. And I replaced the pick guard and back plate. I am going to have to shield the cavity with copper tape as electronics in the room cause noises through the pickups, like noise from my CD player.

I have one and it's a great Strat!

Takes Fender parts wonderfully! (in truth needs NO mods to be a good guitar..BUT, will probably swap pickups to 57/62s, for a more traditional strat sound...the SC101s are great for hard rock)

Mine has some nice flames on the neck:

    Chillin' with it's 70's cousin:

I also used a VM70s body in a parts build..mated a 70's Classic MIM neck to it, (all Fender parts, Pure Vintage where could be used) and it is KILLER!

    Hard to beat these!

Have you looked at a Vintage Modified HSS? They’re really close to the 70’s Modified.
