Firstly, hello all, this is my first post here.

I have recently aquired my first 'real' Fender Strat, a gracefully ageing 1993 American Standard. Needless to say I am delighted with it.

My question is - what hex key do I use for the truss rod adjustment? Presumably it is Imperial and not metric, and AFAIK it is 1/8", but I would like to be sure before I gnarl up the rod by using the wrong size.

(As an aside, is it ever possible to replace the (non-bullet) truss rod nut if it ever gets damaged?)

Thanking everyone in anticipation of your collective wisdom...

    Yes it is 1/8".

Truss rod nut can be replaced.

Take care not to damage the nut, the American Standard has a BiFlex truss rod and replacing the TR nut is a PITA.

You need one that's long on both sides..It has to go pretty deep.

I had the nut and plug replaced on my 1990 American Standard Strat. It was a tough job, but my tech did some very clean work.

Afterwards, I purchased the proper sized adjustment drivers from Stew Mac. It was worth it to me, to avoid trouble in the future.
