V-Mod II pickups, no wonder I like them.

I really like the tones of my 57/62 pickups that I have played for the past 15+ years in various Strats I have owned. I recently bought a used 2201 Pro II with the V-Mod II pickups and really liked the tones I was getting from it. The tones were similar to the 57/62's I'm so familiar with.

I took out my tester to see what the Ohms readings of the pickups were. I thought the V-Mod II's were supposed to be a bit hotter than the 57/62's. I was kind of surprised by the readings.

57/62's
Neck 5.72
Middle 5.66
Bridge 5.67

V-MOD II
Neck 5.84
Middle 5.93
Bridge 6.05

I plugged in a 12" patch cable to each guitar and took the readings from the tip of the cable. All controls on 10. Yes I know the purists will have a field day with this but what the Hell. I guess Vintage Modified is the proper way to classify them. I know what I like in a Stratty sound and these pickups deliver it for me. Anyone else have any readings you would like to show for your V-Mods please do so.

Ohm readings alone means squat actually. You need the Inductance and what magnet it uses to really get a grasp on what these would be like on paper.
But glad you liked them.

I realize all that. However the 99.5% of persons interested in these types of readings do not have the equipment nor the inclination to go into the bowels of the test data and intricate details of their findings to post. If you have the equipment good for you. The rest of us just have a simple testing meter to go by.

If you know how a pickup sounds and at least the Ohms reading of those pickups you can infer how chimey or dark, or driven a pickup can be. Yes there are many other variables to consider but to what avail. Most of us are just looking for a certain tone from our pickups. We don't make our own pickups or sell them. We just listen.

My only strat has been a 2020 Pro Am II with V-Mod II pickups. I can't compare them to anything else, but I do love the sound of the pickups, especially the bridge pickup, which I play 99% of the time. If I can get ahold of a multi-meter, I'll curious as to the readings of each.
