I'll see if I can fit as many of his signature riffs into one jam track ( if possible)

Unfortunately, my laptop's motherboard has fried, hence the sudden lack of output on USB while playing with the train track jam idea yesterday. I'm going to be unable to record anything until I get another, which might take me some time. :(

This tablet hates me (it doesn't detect my fingers half the time) so it takes me ages to type a post, but it does at least play the stuff on here, so I can at least still listen to you all.

Too cool, and very smooth. You nailed the feel, the tone, and the Chuckisms. I think Chuck would approve.

Hello chaps, this isn't my submission, it's a crash course for those of you've who've never tried to play like Chuck Berry before. I'll record a take of my own later:

I've just realised this week's track is in C! One of the suggested alternatives was in A. :whistling: The logic of what I demonstrated remains the same, just move up another three frets.

@alainvey – Oh you uttter, utter bastard! That is so damn good, no-one's going to want to be next to tread the boards! That was great. But I shall not be cowed. :D:D:D

@Thrup'ny Bit – That's a real bummer! :( Are you totally sure it's the motherboard though? I've had repair shops tell me that, and I've fixed the problem changing the power supply (for about 20% of their initial estimate).

So I don't have a Chuck guitar, but I have a Keef guitar, I guess it's the next best thing.

@alainvey is a hard act to follow, but someone's gotta do it. The first one is me trying (trying) to play straight Chuck, and the second is more like me, having been influenced by Chuck (weren't we all?). I don't think I can stand in his shoes regardless, but he may be the only player I ever directly stole licks from.

i spent the evening listening to a bunch of Chuck Berry, mostly i've heard the songbook a million times (except for my ding-a-ling which i've heard a million times plus one), but was surprised by the depth of his playing and especially the impeccable groove... Keith Richards talked about his amazement over CB's ability to come out of the goove for a nice little fill and then drop straight back in.. i always thought i knew what he meant but last night i could hear that Berry's ability on that score wasn't a skill as much as his superpower... - ... people who think what he does is simple... oh well, the world is full of fools...nothing new there...

Not simple at all, which anyone who tries would know. Chuck is all about the groove.

Yup, it's the motherboard, I've got the sucker in pieces on the bench. The chances of getting a replacement are not good. Time to hunt for another laptop. The drive should be ok, but all my data is backed up so I haven't lost anything.
