The color, fretboard inlays and pickups look very Gretsch to me...

That's the reason why I like it, looks like a gretsch but not as big as one. Something about gretsch pickups on a telecaster that I like very much. Reminds me of la cabronita

Well...that Troublemaker tele...combines the worst parts of the Gib LP: mahogany back and maple cap. Which makes the LP HEAVY. Too heavy for quite a few, even with Gib's new weight reduction. Extra controls...great for some, needless for others. And the increased price.

But...no denying the popularity of the LP. And the great sustain (though a good strat is not at all far behind).

I have a Gib LP that I am selling for a Fender FSR HH TELE, because of the weight and controls. AND....since I already have two strats, I am looking forward to a Tele being a classic tele in style, with that classic tele head stock.

    Just my 0.02

[afterthought: it seems to me that the last time Fender tried to make an LP competitor, the HH strat, it did not do all that well. The HH strat had the second tone control and so really did not lack for much, in terms of controls. And still...no LP killer. A Tele with a thick heavy body and different HH pups, along with identical controls.....I still don't see it. I had an HH strat, and the one other strat player I showed it to said, "if you want an LP, why not just get an LP."]

Troublemaker looks and seems cool, the rest are abominations. Especially those Strat-Tele hybrids...

If the Troublemaker had a standard tele headstock and body, so that it was just the addition of the humbuckers, LP bridge and controls, I would like it better.

Interesting stuff - the Jaguar Strat and the Jazz Tele are new concepts, but the others have been done before (either by Fender, the Fender CS, or other small bolt-on builders). I like the Whiteguard Strat and the Strat/Tele Hybrid, but I would have to wait and see what the prices are going to be here in the USA before pulling the trigger on them.

All it takes is knowing how to set it up properly. If you don't know how, and don't try to learn, it'll never work right. If you do know how to set up a guitar with that bridge/trem system, it'll stay in tune as well as a guitar with a floyd rose, locking nut and locking tuners. The only down side to the Jazzmaster/Jaguar trem is you can't really divebomb.

You just described every american business. Without new ideas, new customers, growth.... companies die. So when sales are flat or suffering, throw a hail-Mary.

Seems like folks here of all people would root for company's like Fender and Gibby to make money and stick around. Nobody's putting a gun to anyone's head to buy guitars, which you're implying they're doing.

I think Fender did a great job of solving a problem that doesn't exist.

That Jag/Strat looks cool, and I really dig the Troublemaker Tele's, definitely a Les Paul vibe going on there.

I like the strat jag thing only because of the full scale neck and jag electronics where real jags have student scale necks and I'm not a kid
