Went to my first MLB game in 18 years

The team my wife works for at the hospital was gifted with tickets to the Royals game for this evening.
My wife got two tickets to the suite plus parking so we decided to go.
Yep, KC still kinda sucks. We had two players with batting averages below .150 and 98 at bats.
Oh well, it was still fun to watch a game after all this time.

I was a partial plan season ticket holder for the Oakland A’s for over 30 years until the evil owner got rid of all the good players, doubled my ticket price, tripled my parking, and took away my 50% discount on concessions. I went to two games last year to which I was invited. The team this year is one of the very worst in the history of the sport and attendance is abysmal. They had a little over 2000 the other night. They just fired their TV voice of 20 years for saying the “N” word on the air. And, of course, they have one foot out the door to Vegas.

I am considering going to one game. A local group is publicizing a “reverse boycott”. In order to send a message that Oakland fans can support a team and it‘s the fault of ownership, they are asking fans to come to one game on Tuesday night, June 13th. It seems like a clever idea.

They say baseball is boring because they hardly ever score.

I think most basketball games are pretty boring because that’s all they ever do is score (except playoffs).

I like the psychology and pent up energy of baseball and soccer.

For me, being at a Ballgame is a lot different than watching it on television.

How did it seem with the new pitch count timer? I don't know if it makes any difference being there but definitely does watching it on TV.

When I lived in Rolla and visited my Grandparents in St. Louis we would go to the cardinals games all the time. Always a good time. Haven't been to a MLB game in 10+ years - Houston is closest to me and still a 5 hour drive.
My first major league game was at the old Busch Stadium as a kid. I’m still a cardinals fan.

I spent a lot of time in Missouri and was born there.

I love baseball. I’m taking the family to a Phillies/Tigers game in a couple weeks.

Nice... damn now that I think about it... I don't think i've been to a game since the Met game I went to in 86. I may have gone to a Tampa Bay Devil Rays game in the 90s but not sure ... must not have made an impression.

My wife and I are both big baseball fans, we try and get to 25/30 games a year....we had partial season tickets to the D'Backs for awhile, but since they have decided not to spend any money on players, we've decided to cut back our spending on them...

We will be going this weekend because the "Red Sox" are in town (2nd fav team)....and to the Cubs series later this year...we'll also be heading to San Diego for the Cubs series there and back to Chicago for a series there, though that one hasn't been determined yet...

Love most of the new rules MLB has installed.....the pitch clock is the best...

I grew up playing the sport and really loved it. There was just something magical about it. I even loved watching it both as a kid and an adult. The reason I got turned off from it was in the early 2000s when the 2 players' strikes happened in less than 5 years and they ended up playing shortened seasons as a result. It made me think a lot about when I was a kid and we couldn't afford much at all but my parents made sure I had enough to play (it was barely enough, but it was enough)... decent cleats, good glove, uniform and made it to the field for every practice. Plus, we would spend Sunday afternoons making and eating a grocery bag full of popcorn while watching the Royals game in TV. Those were great memories of the sport. To see greed take that away from a generation for a couple years really put a sour taste in my mouth that never really left to be honest.
Then, the last game I went to was with a chick that I was casually dating in 2005. She bought me a ticket so I drove and covered the parking. She got fall down drunk by the 4th inning and got ridiculously obnoxious. She had several other life long friends there and they all told me that they would take care of her if I didn't want to stick around. I lasted until the 7th inning stretch then finally bailed. I got tired of having her beer spilled on me and all the other people around us getting upset.
She did call and apologize a couple days later but I never spoke to her again after that. I only went to that game because, like last night, it was a free ticket.
Last night was a pretty nice experience though. Once we ate, I went outside and watched the game and it brought back a lot of great memories as a kid... watching games with Dad, the feeling I would get when making that 5-3 throw to make the out off a bad hop and even the hours I would spend alone throwing a rubber baseball against a brick wall to practice catching and fielding...

I love the pitch clock. Both in person and on TV

The other rule I'd love to see would let the runner stand up after a slide and not get tagged out while making the transition to standing up. Just let them stand up

Up until last year I had MASN so I could watch the Nats. Verizon got too expensive for that package. And with the way MLB blacks out games I can't catch them there either
