What’s the sense in blocking someone?

Some people just love to argue. It's mainly newer folk, they obviously can't stand anyone processing an opinion. If you like, prefer, a certain thing, they will argue it's WRONG, etc ad nauseam. The expression of opinions doesn't bother me, I like the exchange of ideas. There are some guitarists that I don't care for; but if someone makes a good effort for them, I'm all ears.

I find it amazing that complete strangers can be so internet bossy...

I’ve never put anyone on ignore but I can’t really criticize anyone for how they want to shape their online experience any more than I can criticize someone for preferring 3TSB guitars. It’s their choice and as it has no impact on my life, they can ignore the entire forum if they wish.

Live and let live, what a concept!

I also have an ignore feature for my phones...! Use it I do...! I know it doesn't affect the robo-callers, I've a different means of dealing with them...

But for persons with whom I've no wish to speak, it is a blessing! Everything they wish to say to me they have to put in writing. Such has already proven disastrous for an opponent in a legal matter. The idiot put a threat in an email. The judge hearing the matter granted a Summary Judgment because of it...and awarded legal fees!

I think I know who you are talking about and good riddance.
Shizz, I missed another...
Haven't been firing on all three cylinders lately. What was it this time...color, string gauge, relics? Or was it the ever popular "hands-tone" conundrum?

I only have a couple of individuals blocked on this forum. I am pretty sure they are trolls. I have blocked a couple of annoying people on other forums. It is a very handy feature.

As for the giant social platforms, I won't even go there....

When I was in my 30's a guy cut me off at a two way stop where traffic had me blocked in the hot sun for around 4 minutes. When it was my turn to go the guy across the street from me gunned his car, shot in front of me and cut me off just as I was starting to cross the intersection. I was on a motorcycle so I had to hit the brake hard to keep from getting creamed. To top it off the jerk was laughing at me and gave me the finger while he was doing it.

I stewed about that jerk all day. That evening while I was still plotting imaginary vengeance against the jerk I heard a voice ask me "How was your day?" I thought "You know how my day was". Then the voice said "That guy went about his way as if nothing had happened. He just went about irritating people all day long and he never even gave you a second thought." Then I heard "You ruined your whole day, not him"

It was what was in my head that ruined my day not him. I learned a valuable lesson and have lived by it since that time. When some jerk irritates you ignore him. Let him be the one that dwells on it. You should just move on and enjoy your day.

I have heard this similar story a few different ways.
Don't let others rent space in your head sums it up

Perhaps. But it was a true experience and Christians know who the voice was. I should add that this is not about keeping someone out of your head as much as it is about forgiveness.

I don't have anyone on ignore or block, I have no reason to. I think they would have to abuse me pretty bad for no reason before I would. I haven't had anything close to that as of yet. I'm not an argumentive person, I don't come here for that. Maybe I rub some people the wrong way. It happens.

I think there is a member here, or maybe even more than one who has me blocked, and I have no idea why. I have commented to them and not gotten any response. Some people are just sensitive I guess. If I said something that bothered or annoyed them, I apologize for it. It's not my intent to troll anybody.

I have 38 people on ignore, though I’ll frequently click “show ignored content” and read comments from blocked people. Sometimes I say oh, that’s why I had them blocked. Other times I say oh, they’re not so bad, and I unignore them.

In the last few years people have really let their politics or other cultural identity grievances bleed through into their posts. Some seem to be tolerated here more than others.
