What’s with the ads all of a sudden?

Might be a result of a higher resolution screen on an iPad?

I have Safari disabled. I use the DuckDuckGo browser.

    Yep.

I’m no Apple fanboy. I chose what I think is the lesser of two evil mobile OSs.

I loathe google, so that kind of narrows things down.

I loved two Windows phones I had.

    Couldn't agree more.

A forum is its members, without us they have no forum. They should be paying us! ;)

Aside from that I belong to (and I know you do too Thrup'ny Bit) forums that are far bigger than this one, have no fees or ads and are run by individuals for the common good.

That's the difference between altruistic forums and purely money making ventures.

He does now, but that's a relatively recent development.

There is no native Adblock for Firefox on iOS as far as I know. Safari does ad block img anyway unless you really need Firefox for something else there isn’t a better browser for IOS than safari… mine is a work issued pad and we have to use chrome for some of our apps but event ah tis a bit of a pain with integration into the rest of the IOS ecosystem…

I've become more and more disenchanted with the forum.
Threads that turn to backbiting melees and members getting more heated and slanderous. Topics rarely interest me. :(
The ads are close to the final straw.
The only reason I'm sticking around is for the occasional challenge/jam when I get time and waiting for @nutball73 to get the next live jam together. :p

Same here @s5tuart @Thrup'ny Bit . I see little to no point in continuing here these days, so I only have a scan around every few days.

Make sure you contact Andrea and get on the Euroguestock WhatsApp chat - the jams will be announced there first!

Now back to isolation - my son has Covid

No idea about Edge, sorry. I barely figured out how to do it with NoScript in Firefox.

Get uBlock Origin browser add on/extension from the Microsoft Store, it will do the job for you and it's free.

Sh¡t. That is terrible. I'll think good things in your direction.

Yes, there certainly seems to be an uptick in negativity. Really sucks. Why are there so many who find it necessary to beat their point of view, sanctimonious self righteousness, lunacy into a bunch of guitar players? It used to be entertaining.

The guy that bought the GearTalk Network forums from the original owner Paul Green about three years ago, or so we were told.

I think that's the thing. It feels to me like a lot of the newer members are missing the subtlety between entertaining light-hearted banter, full-on nuclear tub-thumping and just being childish.

I can honestly say I've never posted anything I wouldn't say to someone face-to-face, and we would agree to disagree over a beer. Doesn't seem to be so common these days.

So, who should foot the bill for the expense for your altruistic forum? It can get very expensive.;)

There are ads on my PC. As I asked before, how does one block them on a PC? Do I need an ad-on or something?

Thanks. Anyway, I guess it's moot. I can skip over the ads with the #3 on the number row for heading level 3. I can live with the ads if the owner(s) need to raise money.
